How much does a track day cost? [HPDE]
Thought it would be interesting to start a log of approximate track day costs.
Maybe even post it so we can share with each other: Cost of club track event per day: Cost of fuel to and from the track: Cost of fuel at the track: Cost of track day insurance: (4 sessions = 1 full track day) Cost of tires: How many sessions do you get out of your tires? Cost of brake pads: How many sessions do you get out of your brake pads? Cost of rotors: How many sessions do you get out of your rotors? What fluids do you change regularly? Cost of fluid flush and change? Items broken or lost at track: Major repairs caused by track damage: Any labor or service before or after the track related to the track: Last edited by Monkey Throttle; 09-29-2021 at 05:24 PM.. |

I know how long brake pads last, how many days for tires, etc.
I don’t really want to document it, I am better off with the cost being ambiguous. I’ve done 24 track days this year. I’ve bought 6 sets of tires. Thankfully my two sets of rims have a few days left on the tires.

I'll put average costs because I switch all these things so often.
Cost of club track event per day: Depends on club but usually $275-$300 Cost of fuel to and from the track: Depends on how far but around 2 times when I tow ~$120 currently Cost of fuel at the track: M4 and Z06 lasted two sessions until I needed to fill up, R8 can go around 4 sessions but assume 1 overpriced tank of gas ~$75 Cost of track day insurance: $475 M4, $600 Z06, $1,300 R8 <- this sucks hard (4 sessions = 1 full track day) Cost of tires: A7/NT01 ~$1,500 How many sessions do you get out of your tires? 2 days* on A7, 8 days* on NT01 Cost of brake pads: ~$500 for fronts, ~$350 rears How many sessions do you get out of your brake pads? Ferodo = a little over two days, PFC = for'fucking'ever Cost of rotors: ~$500 How many sessions do you get out of your rotors? Harshest compound I used was a PFC11 and I can get more than a season out of them What fluids do you change regularly? M4: Brake Fluid, Z06: Engine Oil/Rear Diff, R8: Nothing Overly Regular Cost of fluid flush and change? Bottle of SRF ~$75; do it myself Items broken or lost at track: n/a Major repairs caused by track damage: Only a crash Any labor or service before or after the track related to the track:Nah, if you're tracking and need to do more frequent maintenance, you should do it yourself for cost reasons and because you want to know that it was done properly and how the components could potentially fail or be repaired on the track Last edited by NYG; 09-29-2021 at 07:46 PM.. |

Obviously many factors that will impact durability of the consumables....
I will say that I've discovered the DS1.11 pads wear like butter (using stock rotors, high-temp fluid). One of my local tracks is NJMP Lightning, which is 1.9 mi with 2 major braking zones (~140 to 70, and ~120 to 60), and I burned through a set of those in ~2.5 days. And I'm not the fastest person either. So far, the 3.12 compound is faring much better. Looking to try PFC11's next. At the other NJMP track Thunderbolt, I was able to eek a personal best on NT01's on their ~26th heat cycle, and will be back on the same set this Sunday at Lightning again. |

I very roughly figure around $1k per track day all inclusive of everything I need, which usually means also factoring in a motel room so I don't have to drive 3 hours each way in addition to driving all day at the track, plus insurance.

To answer the OP: it depends how fast you are. The faster you are (both driver and vehicle dependent), the more expensive it becomes.

How much does a track day cost? [HPDE]
@Suds 24 track days is impressive, especially in the Texas heat and with Max A/C running. The F8x platform is beastly.
I know one member who is on schedule for ~30 days this year with a compressed season from early Apr to end of Oct. Can anyone here top that? I've got 3 more days this season which will get me to 15 days total. My wife hasn't left me yet. |

I'm on 16 track days on my PFC08 and they have lots of life left! RE71R's lasted me between 5 and 8 track days depending on the tracks and if I can swap them L to R. 13 track days this year and I just got a new set.
