Yep I was wrong. Just did some testing and my symptoms match you. Any mode, but has to be warm.

Hi all, thanks for the responses in the forum and privately. One response advised to have BMW perform Wastegate diagnostics and adjust. This apparently resolved his issue.

When I took the vehicle back to BMW and advised them of this, they seemingly took a more "nuclear" option and replaced the Turbo completely. I was surprised but hey, it was under warranty...

Below an extract of the work performed, and parts used:

Rattling noise around 1500 - 1700RPM
Carried out road test with customer and confirmed noise.
Carried out diagnostics and found excessive play on
wastegate valve push rods causing rattling noise at low
engine revs around 1500rpm - 1700rpm.
Created TSARA #1264627
Replaced bank 1 and 2 exhaust turbo chargers and associated
parts as per procedure. Carried out vacuum bleeding of
cooling system.
Degreased engine bay post repairs.
Carried out quick test and reset adaptive values
Cleared all DTC's.
Renewed engine oil and filter.
Road tested vehicle - All OK

It's straightforward and cheap if you know the exact size of those e-clips. That's the problem. I watched that video, bought an assorted e-clip box and took out the passenger air box. All I found out is that you need a VERY thin clip. That's what all the discussion is over.
