M4 F82 Stainless Steel Brake Lines Recommendation

I am thinking of installing a set of stainless steel brake lines with SRF brake fluid since I participate in the occasional track day and spirited driving events.

I could not find a lot of current discussions when searching the forum, so I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for stainless steel brake lines?

So far, I have found ones made by ECS, Turner, Challenge, Goodridge, and Stoptech.

I did a quick search and only HPA came up for front and rear lines. Where are you guys buying Spiegler lines for the front and rear from?

I agree to this 99% of the time but if he's going to be on the track, it's worth it. I wouldn't install them if I didn't track the cars. Unfortunately the F82 needs a lot more help than SS lines to manage heat on the brakes.

Yeah I found that link as mentioned in my post. Is that the only place to buy them from on the web?

I did a mild track day last year (I was not pushing it too hard IMO) and after about 4 laps, the brakes faded pretty fast. I backed off a little the rest of the day and the brake feel was okay. Obviously part of this is just due to heat on the pads/rotors, but I would rather initially install ss lines for a few hundred than pads/rotors for a few thousand.

In this case, I'd add the SS lines last. Put fresh SRF and track pads (stock iron rotors are just fine) first and try that setup for a track day. Stock brake lines are fine tbh.

Essexparts is a distributor, you can buy it directly from them (and also AP big brake kits which come with Spiegler lines)

Yeah, so that's one of the few but major factory problems with the F8x. Mediocre calipers and zero air flow to them - front of the car is a wall of radiators. A metallic race pad will serve you better but it will also get everything hotter. As long as you're using SRF, you can abuse the fluid a bit more.

I got the StopTech lines from VividRacing. Hard to tell how much of an improvement they made because I also upgraded the stock pads and fluid at the same time. The combo certainly made a difference as you would expect.

Installed SS lines yesterday on my CCB's and flushed with SRF. There's definitely an improvement but to each's own.

Front lines

Rear lines

Just installed the Bimmerworld V3 brake lines. I’m not sure why people claim these don’t make a huge difference but they certainly do. It’s a no brainer mod for the price of $100.

Initial bite is dramatically improved, heavy braking is dramatically improved. It adds a lot more confidence in my ability to brake on a dime.

My set up is Castrol SRF, porterfield R4S pads and Bimmerworld V3 lines.

I also bought Turner Motorsport lines for my wife’s car and IMO, Turner is higher quality. It has a polyurethane coating wrapped around the steel and there is a swivel fitting on the connector that connects to the hard line of the car.

I should also comment that while the Turner lines appear to be of higher quality, they are NOT DOT approved. They are just made to Be DOT compliant but not formally approved.

The Bimmerworld lines are DOT approved.

There's no such thing as a product that's DOT approved. You can only be compliant with DOT guidelines. If a product states approved, it's nonesense.
