Does the Drive Logic button only work on manual mode?
Hi: I don't pick up my M4 for a few days and I have a question, maybe a dumb question, but on the Drive Logic,so that is how fast the transmission shifts, basically,I think,so can I use the Drive Logic when in automatic mode or is that not a good idea?...Thanks,H50

DSC is the fully off traction control. Used regardless of what mode of transmission you’re in. You can run DSC off in any transmission mode

Sorry, I mispoke(mistyped).I meant to say the Drive Logic button, just below the gear shift.
Can that be used in automatic mode or is it only for manual mode?Thanks,H50 Last edited by Huck50; 01-31-2024 at 09:16 AM.. |

Yes, the 3 shift modes alter how the transmission behaves in D mode.
Level 1 is efficient and the car will upshift EXTREMELY early (you'll be in 7th gear at 65kmh). Conversely Level 2/3 are more aggressive and will hold gears longer and rev match downshifts.

Is there any setting in Manual mode whereby the DCT will shift smoother, especially at the lower speeds and city driving? I have M1 as "Effiicient,Comfort,Comfort" and M drive in #3 position. Thanks,H50

I find that having the Drive Logic in #1 position when in Manual Mode makes shifts a little smoother.H50

Yeah,I kinda figured I would need to use the gear shifter, but I was more concerned about whether I could change from one to the other on the fly, like when doing highway speeds(120KPH) when using DRIVE and then wanting to move to MANUAL.Thanks,H50

It’s the same as being in D mode and using the paddies which switches it to S mode at any speed.

If you’re in automatic mode all you have to do to switch to manual mode is to pull the down/up shift paddle and it switches you to manual mode. However, to go from manual mode back to automatic mode you’ll have to push the gear shift knob to the right once.

Just go play with your car. You’ll learn more that way than sitting on your computer

What is your default M-Drive profile when you first start the car...mine is "Comfort,Sport,Sport" and Drive Logic on #1 position..I guess you can't change the default to something else?.
I wonder if the default is the same for all F82's.. (2020)?Thanks,H50 Last edited by Huck50; 02-23-2024 at 01:37 PM.. |

the default it comes with cannot be changed (which sucks)
setup your M1 and M2 buttons - and after you start the car, hit the one you want for the situation I am already in that habit, since I also hit the Cruise button at the same time I find the #2 setting the best for Drive logic - I use that setting in both A and M I only use #1 when there is snow or ice on the ground

There are two things on my 2020 F82 that I can't figure out why......I need to have two pulls on the inner door handle to open, first pull, nothing, second pull opens the door.
Another one is when you open the door from outside, the window goes down a couple of inches then goes back up when closed....why?! Thanks,H50 |

first pull is to unlock the door, second pull is to open, this is normal there is no frame around the side windows so it leaves a small gap when closing so not to shatter the window, then it will move up to seal, this is normal. |

If your car is running, then 2 pulls are needed
When you shut the car off, it will only need 1 pull There is also an unlock button that if you push it, then your door will only need the one pull Windows go down, because they are frameless. It they were like most doors, the window wouldn’t move But it goes down slightly and up slightly to ensure a good seal.

If you’re driving on the highway, or even a side street, and somehow accidentally pulled the handle the door won’t open. It’s a safety feature to cover BMW’s ass in case some idiot tries to sue them for falling out of a running car. This way, you have to intentionally pull the handle a second time to get the door to open. Same reason why they have to tell you that your just purchased coffee is hot or labels on a poison telling you to not drink said poison because it could kill you.

or is it on the dash, under the four ways button?.
Unlock button is that one ^^ auto locking is for security reasons as mentioned above - people could yank your door open when you are at a stop sign or red light
