F83 Convertible Top "trim spring" replacement
Hey Everyone,
I've got a 2015 F83 M4 Convertible. Summer is here, and of course... The top got stuck halfway open and I had to take it to BMW. It was throwing code 8050A5. They tell me I need to: $1500 - Replace right coupling lock sensor (this seems fine to me) $3200 - Replace Left Convertible Trim Spring (this seems crazy expensive to me) Pictures are attached. If I just replaced the sensor, will that spring issue be a problem? Is that something I can replace on my own (or bend and re-attach with some pliers)? Curious what your thoughts are. I really appreciate your input! |

That’s excessive and if you know how to do this would do it yourself.
I had a string with tension spring go in my M3 vert yrs ago and they wanted to replace the full roof liner and did it for a tenner with the part that had gone. BMW are not good with fixing roof repairs as fairly complex mechanism |
