Interesting. Best ask I suppose. Had a horrible attack at the M25/M11 northbound yesterday. Car felt awful - almost as if I had a bush that had gone. Then I realised I had the bloody DSC and TC on. Oooooh, it's horrible... Just ruins what is just a wonderfully balanced car.....

PS Damo. You need to come out in the beast now. Best get your wallet at the ready
Oh no, don't tell me that Guy!! Have you had both the exhaust mod done and the power upgrade in Maidstone?? I need to see, hear and feel it if you have

This must be a huge issue as 10,000 units is a lot of cars.. I'm guessing but I would assume they will fix factory cars first and move on to dealers cars..

I was told they would have parts on the 10th

Apparently mine needs checking even though it was built after the problem had already been highlighted!!

I'll be pretty pissed off if it is a problem and they built in know it had a bad part....

Hope it's not affected...

I hope you guys that have yet to receive theirs don't get affected by this.

Although I feel like you guys (ie with no new car) - had the M3 for a month then back to square one, no car until further notice.

My loan 530d is booked out to me till Oct but I hope I wont need it till that long.

I think I'll give it a month and I'll be ringing up BMW finance for some reduction in my monthlies - dont want to pay hundreds a month for a car I cant drive ............ loan car or not.

Much longer and it would be rude not to remap the 530d and fit some ACS springs....

Wahhhh mines 29. Hopefully they don't hold mine.

I asked my SA before I bought the car and he said no... I don't think I trust him.

Reading this, its not the only mass recall BMW have had to deal with this year.........

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/07/22/b...m-cars-report/

BMW has issued several recalls this year. Just last month, the automaker recalled more than 200,000 SUVs for lower child-seat anchor bars, as well as potential damage and failure to the universal join on the front driveshaft. In February, BMW recalled 840,000 vehicles to replace faulty Takata airbags, while 6,110 units of the 2016 7 Series were added to the same recall in April.

Getting on towards a million faulty air bags....

Its funny, at my local dealership they have a lovely M3 in Silverstone in the showroom. But the service guy described it as an "ornament" at the moment.

Cannot be driven of course.

Yes indeed, as mentioned above.

But you wouldn't have thought they would have made 10,000 M cars in a couple of months (original date being May 12, 2016 to July 4, 2016) given how rare they are? This must stretch further back then that?

Wills, Guy (and everyone who had one this year) ... get your cars checked!

It does seem that the dates are not right, mine was after the 4th and is still affected.. 10,000 is a Ive number of diffs/parts

Well mine was meant to be build week 33 but actually started build a couple of weeks ago.

It's now been sitting at 5200 (Paint shop start) for around 2 weeks and hasn't moved. I'm starting to fear the worst and that it's affecting my car now.

Hope some clarity is brought to this issue sooner rather than later.

I suspect its a simple case of a supplier issue as they seem to know what parts needs replacing now. Not enough parts to go around for all affected cars at the minute, both new and already delivered.
I guess when this sort of unplanned issue crops up, the supplier needs to double or triple their output rate, which is probably not possible. I bet someone somewhere is getting some overtime.

Let alone the legal wrangling thats probably been going on between BMW and the supplier.
