Downpipe codes

Since I had my downpipes installed the usual CEL light has been on. I don’t have a code reader and I’m not about to pay the stealership $200 just to read them so can someone point out what codes they most likely are, what they mean, and if they’ll have any effect on the car? Appreciate it.

A basic $30 code read will be able to pull them and erase them if they are your O2 sensors.

The CEL from that code doesn't hurt anything, but with the light always on and ignored you wouldn't know if there was another problem. Most people buy a flash tune to turn off that code plus add power, exhaust valves, etc.

I was just poking around and see the ~$40 BimmerLink (not BimmerCode) app can clear your code, open/close valves, disable ASD, and some other stuff. It requires a $25 OBD adapter. Maybe that helps? I don't own it since I have a BPM tune that adjusts %s for my hi-flow cats instead of auto-clearing the CEL, this way the light still works right.

Maybe the $30 code reader is your solution, but when I cleared codes they came back after about a week. You might need to clear repeatedly.

I tried autozone and their OBD connector doesn’t fit my car. Not sure about the others but I’d assume the same.

How does their OBD connector not fit?
It’s a standard OBDII since 19 0way back

It’s directional. Maybe they tried to put it on incorrectly?

I wish I knew. Guy came out with several adapters in a box and tried them all. None of them fit apparently.

Just ask to use it yourself. Look at the plug and attach it. It fits.

BimmerCode does not read or clear codes. I believe you meant BimmerLink.
