I'm still looking for a US link for the v3. What even is the difference between the V2 vs V3?

For me the issue with both the V1 & V2 was the brightness (or lack there of) of the brake lights & turn signals

In bright daylight they were almost non perceptible when lit. I'm definitely no prude, but not gonna have a rear end accident then have them say they couldn't see my brake lights on my aftermarket tails

Returned them both for credit - more than happy with the Euro LCI OEM tails I currently have installed

Yeah that's the issue with them using cree chips and then whacking a diffuser in front to create DRL shapes. I have a feeling these V3's could potentially have brighter DRL's as they're using cob boards rather than leds hidden behind diffusers, I might be wrong though. What won't be brighter however are the indicators, yellow/amber is one of the weakest colours an LED can produce.

I have heard that about the turn signals, but the brake lights would be a dealbreaker for me.

Brake lights are still visible AFAIK with the first gen ones. I did an entire 7 day rally in the middle of summer 2021 and the only complaint from the driver behind was the turn signals not being super visible, he said generally you could make out they were on as something was moving but they weren't solid colours.

The brake lights however use a huge reflector behind the chip so they actually stay quite bright. If you chopped the lens off and put some foil tape inside of the turn signal diffusers you'd probably increase the output by 30-40%.

I’m sorry but all of these fake oled taillights look so bad.

Every modified car eventually reaches a stage of life where the high quality OE lights have been replaced with an eBay knockoff and there’s almost no going back. Your car then looks like it’s owned by a teenager and is on its way to a junkyard. No need to hit fast forward to that sad moment.

I hear what you're saying but is that also not applicable to all the aftermarket splitters, trim overlays, wheels and lip spoilers out there?

Apart from the interior hardware they actually look very similar. I'm not saying all aftermarket lights are OEM/OEM+ looking however I would argue the red FOLEDs are on the colder side of appearing like a knock off.

I think the only thing that dips these into the overkill category is that 60% of the last gen modified BMW's have these.

Everyones got their own taste though, give it another 10 years and I'd probably turn away from most modifications myself.

This guy read my mind 💯

BMW is so far ahead with their lights that all aftermarket lights are an eyesore for me. And I want to like the FOLEDs but I can’t bring myself to do it.

Sorry for reviving this thread but I actually stumbled across someone making REAL oled copies, I enquired about a video and the seller took down the listing so either he sold the last set or doesn't want these sold anymore sadly.

They were selling for $1200 which is a pretty fair price for actual OLED technology, the last set of OLED aftermarket tail lights I saw for sale were in the region of $2900
