Good thinking. You'll be break-even in only 226,000 miles at $4/gallon

I am so on the fence regarding DCT that this relatively minor difference in fuel economy does make a difference.

Not that $ are the key issue, but your computation is misleading. DCT has resale value, probably 90% or so relative to diminishing overall car value. So the break even point is probably close to year one.

LOL, we are so pathetic, us Nordic folks. I actually have counted this too.

Haha, true

I never actually considered DCT for this car. It's slower and less efficient but should be a lot more fun...

But stressdoc is right, resale value in the US may be a problem. I'm leasing mine so it's something that never occurred to me.

I've thought about this as well; I am already going crazy with SO/SO; if MT will hurt resale more, well, then I've committed to this car for 7 years like Greg.

Where did you read that M-DCT is slower than MT?

Yeah, this car is just about the first time in my life every penny is not counted. I don't care if I never can sale it, I'll just turn it into a garden gnome back home, with those gas prices that baby will never move again.

I read it that way myself and then realized it was just not written very well. I think he meant to say that he never considered the DCT, even though the 6MT is slower and less efficient.

Indeed, that's what I meant. Poorly written.
