Any feedback on how they drove on the track?

I was expecting faster than NT01 on a glory lap early on. Did not achieve that, but conditions were not great. Overall pace with traffic was the same as the NT01.
I drove at LRP and taking Big Bend felt faster, while taking the downhill felt less stable. Maybe it was just me as I took last year off from the track, and this was my first time out this year, but I was expecting something far more advanced than the NT01. Perhaps my expectations are far too high.

Other than that, very little feedback from the tire compared to the NT01 in terms of noise. Maybe that will change with more use.
I ran them at 26.5 cold and didn't get any of that low pressure rumble that I'd get with the NT01 from time to time so that was good.

One other observation, a new set of NT01s always picked up so much gravel which you could easily hear. Not the case with this tire. Is it not as sticky?

^ Thanks for the quick review!
It’s always nice to hear how a new tire handles on a similar car to what your driving.

The CR1’s are TW200 correct? vs the NT01 which is TW 100? Figured the AR-1 would be more along the lines of the NT-01.

The AR-1 is faster than the NT01, by a decent margin!

CR1 are 200TW but as are the A052 which are apparently faster than the AR1, and the CR1 is an A052 like tire.

A052's are not faster than AR-1's. That said, A052's are very fast street tires.

See real world testing from a notable driver here:
https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...r-and-pirelli/

AR-1 is the slowest of the 100tw options but will probably wear best. They didn't B2B with A052 on this day due to sizing but I think A052 is similar, likely faster to the AR-1.

The Nankang CR-1 iirc is manufactured by Yokohama for Nankang. I don't have stickers on me but read the fine print sometime.
I think the CR-1 should be fast and on-pace with the A052 but not necessarily faster.

That article puts the AR-1 up against a 60tw Pirelli Trofeo R, and the hilariously mislabeled 100tw supercar 3r which puts up laps almost as fast as 60tw Hoosier R7's.

That article also did not heat cycle the AR-1 tires, and said they overheated them as well. Once they heat cycled them and didn't overheat them, they clicked off very fast laps.

That article also never even used the A052.

Hey guys,

Coupe noob questions:

Would a 18x10 +25 square setup off an E46 M3 fit on a F80 ?

What's a decent pad for an advanced group driver with a mostly stock car? Not looking to win any HPDE trophies but don't want fade. PFC 08 still a thing?

18x10 ET25 is too aggressive for the rear. I used that setup for a while before moving to square ET36 10.5

PFC 08 still works, I'd prefer a PFC11 all around

I hope you enjoy the F80!

Too aggressive, meaning it would rub ? Was hoping it could do for a day but definitely don't want to damage anything.

Thanks Danny.

Thanks Danny.
I did it for a few weekends, so it 'works' as long as your tire is not very wide. I used 275/35.

It rubbed a bit on the outside with -1.8 camber in the rear, but it 'works' for a short period

Always good to see you in this section!!!

Got it.
Trying to avoid buying a dedicated set of wheels if I'm just going once or twice to feel out the car. I'm just an occasional tourist at the track these days ahah.

I fit a 18x10et25 with 275 nt01's all around. I did put a spacer upfront for some extra clearance.

My suspension is 100% stock and had plenty of room.

And yes PFC08's are still a thing. I've moved onto Ferodo 1.11's or 3.12's.

If things get tight and you are at stock ride heights you can get the IND rear camber shim kit to give you more room which will get you up close to -2.5deg. My 19x10.5 +35 setup has soo much room for activities now that i'm at -2.8 in the rear! (I have SPL camber arms in the rear too but 19x11's would be easy at +35 with this much camber)

Hit me up if you get serious and are looking for a dedicated set of track wheels, I’ve got a few sets and need to sell at least one set. If your signature is current, we’re local.

As far as the treadwear numbers, complete joke these days. Finding the Goodyear 3R to be just as fast as the Yoko A052 and definitely faster than NT01 by a good margin. AR1 somewhere in between, it not far off GY.

But like most things, trade-offs - wear vs lap time.

Fanatic1, you don't know Kaiv? You are absolutely missing out! If he were on the East Coast, he'd be the one doing all my car stuff!

And they don't call him drift king for nuthin'!

I'm going to have to try the G3R myself and see what all the love is about

Nice to see another familiar screen name!

What size spacer did you use?

Car is slightly lowered. Think the stock rear arms can get -2?

You recommended that 18x10.5 et36 setup to me as well. I've been told by BBS it requires a 15mm and will poke up front. The RIA is 18x10.5 et37. Is that true, is additional front camber a prerequisite to make it work?

I plan to keep the suspension stock and run camber plates.

Are you running a square 19x10.5 setup?
