passenger side mirror drop in reverse

so the passenger side mirror drops down each time I go in reverse. which is fine. and I know if I put the button in the car to the right it won't dip at all when reversing. my question is how do I change the amount it drops down? is it possible to change how much it drops? it drops down quite a bit farther than I'd like it to.

Thats a first, I have yet to hear someone complain about this. I wonder if its in any way connected with how you have your mirrors adjusted? Like does it dip down a specific distance (from where you had it saved as your preference) or just goes all the way down anyway?

The amount of drop can be changed with coding.

it drops down to the curb and road and I can't see anything actually behind me in that mirror. I'd like to have it dip down just a little so I can see the curb better but not so much that I can't see anything behind me. it dips really far down.... I have to adjust my head height in order to even use it at all. I usually just leave it off cuz it's kinda useless as is right now. but it's a cool feature I'd love to use if I could set the amount it dips.

You are only supposed to see your expensive wheel and how close it is to the curb with that dip. Who cares about the person behind you are about to hit?

You know people find things to complain about on here...

If it's going down too far it probably means your mirror isn't set up properly from the start.

To see behind you use the backup camera.

ummm not so much a complaint as a question on if it's possible to adjust it. and how does one have a mirror in the wrong spot to begin with if that's what works for them???

I'll have to test this out. I'll point the mirror way up and see if it doesn't drop as far or if it just always defaults to that same spot.

I agree. It drops too much. It is useless compared to other cars that I've owned. Half the drop angle would be ideal.

Put the car in reverse, switch your mirror adjustment to the passenger side, the mirror will return to the normal position.

Now adjust the mirror to where you'd like it to be when reversing. Switch the adjustment to the drivers side, your passenger mirror should be where you left it. Disengage reverse, passenger mirror should return to normal driving position.

The passenger mirror will now move to the position you set whenever reverse is selected.

I feel like I've tried this and it always reverts back. I'll try again, maybe I screwed it up.

Strange, it worked perfectly on mine. Never worked on my E46 so I assumed they had changed the coding.

Maybe a difference between UK and U.S. cars?

I couldn't get mine adjusted on my own adequately - was pointed too high when driving and still too low in reverse (didn't have backup camera). So I coded it not to drop as much:

FEM_BODY - ASP_BORDSTEINAUTOMATIK_DELTA
Coded to Werte = 22 (default was 3B or 59 points)

In the meantime I've also added the Bimmertech backup camera retrofit and it works great.

I can't find this setting (did an entire search on the FEM_BODY module):
ASP_BORDSTEINAUTOMATIK_DELTA
What I see is this:
FEM_BODY - 3110
ASP_BORDSTEINAUTOMATIK
aktiv
werte=01

So I'm not sure how to set this.

I wonder if it has anything to do with:
FEM_BODY - 3110
ASP_HORIZONTALE_MIN_POS werte=3B
ASP_HORIZONTALE_MAX_POS werte=55

Interesting. The setting is in my FEM_BODY...but I have the older software version on my car as well so perhaps they changed the setting? :

Did you go back to the top of the list of codes when you searched? Maybe you missed it...otherwise not sure I can help. Maybe just search for delta?

Yep, I did all that and searched everywhere within the FEM_BODY module and couldn't find ASP_BORDSTEINAUTOMATIK_DELTA. I checked my I-step of my car and it is F020-15-07-504. I also noticed that the target I-step (the one i picked when I initially connect my laptop to my car) is F020-15-07-506. Not sure if that would affect things. I'm at a loss now, shawnsheridan would you have any insights on this?
