Not sure what the piston size is for the steel brakes, but this should work for the steels as well. Yeah good point, more aggressive compound pads will squeal.

(4) 96435109601 / ES#2834637 = 36mm
(4) 96535209601 / ES#1466565 = 34mm (4) 99635208600 / ES#2834639 = 30mm (8) 99635208602 / ES#2834641 = 28mm Bought them through ECS from various oem vendors for about $110 and did the fronts this morning, huge improvement thus far will have to see if it lasts. In addition I greased the contact points on the pads (sides/top), pins and swapped the inner/outer pads. So far not a peep! Basically: -Pop hood, remove driver side cover and loosen brake fluid cap -Remove wheel / turn wheel out so caliper facing out a bit -Remove (2) pins & pad sensor cable (could do this after removal but either way) -Remove (2) caliper bolts & caliper carefully then rest/hang on stand/box/shock/etc, do not let caliper or pads fall out and chip rotor -Remove & clean back of pads the best you can so that the damping plate can adhere cleanly -Wipe down caliper (primarily the inside) -Insert 2x 36mm, 2x 34mm, 2x 30mm damping plates (leave adhesive paper on) then push pistons back into caliper close to flush (can do either way but was easy by hand) -Grease sides/top-center of pads (metal base only) and pins -Remove adhesive paper using small screwdriver etc -Place inner pad down at an angle on the spring clip so it doesnt touch adhesive while pushing in the 2 pins to ensure the pads is aligned and all the way down before pressing it back against adhesive -Repeat with outer pad till pins are mostly through and both pads are adhered -Put caliper/bolts back on @ 88 ft lbs, should be plenty of room if the pistons were pushed back in -Put pins all the way back in & reattach pad sensor -Wipe down caliper & mount wheel @ 103 ft lbs -Squeeze brake pedal a few times slowly to apply brake force on the adhesive -Reattach reservoir cap/cover and close hood (if finished) Tools used: T55? socket for caliper bolts 3/8 torque wrench/driver Small punch Rubber hammer Small screwdriver

Q-
Would Remedy 3 help reduce/eliminate a persistent squeak that is coming from my CCB brakes when the car is moving at low speeds and the brakes are not being applied? I don't mind the squeaks and squeals when I'm on the brakes as much as the constant squeaking when I'm not on them. It's driving me bonkers. |

I've had the dampers on all for corners for a few months now, I still get the occasional squeak here and there but would say it has been reduced about 85-90%. I do not get the horn/vibration noise at all now.

Thanks to this thread, I did what you guys recommended with the dampers which has improved the CCB squeal considerably. Now it will be less embarrassing pulling up at the school pick up line in the M.

For anyone doing this mod, be careful with the non official Porsche ones, the rear ones were having a hard time staying in and I guess one came out while I put the pad in and I didnt notice, a week later it had some how stayed between the caliper/rotor and was squished. I got lucky and caught it and the rotor is fine, but the caliper has some minor paint damage to the inner side where the pads sit. Just my 2 cents.

Anyone know if this applies or is necessary on the F90 - M5 CCB callipers?
It would be incredible if the brake squeaking at low speeds would go away completely. Usually is audible when stopping car 30mph -> 0. Especially in city driving, drives me crazy, turns heads in a negative way lol. |
