So my plan is to just keep my F80 for several more years. I got it in June of 2016 and it only has 30k miles. I will put even fewer miles on it now as a daily driver because I work 2 miles from home and don't take it on trips anymore. Probably only putting about 6k miles per year on it going forward max.

So the question is whether it would be worth trading for a slightly newer Competition package F80. Maybe a 2017 or 2018 with the minor upgrades it has. Keep in mind that I will be driving it everyday and will not be going to the track or modding it. I've seen some reviews saying the competition version is much stiffer and not great for daily driving. Of course some would say the same thing about the base model. Also curious about whether the seats in the competition are better aside from just looking different. I guess my question is if I plan to keep it for another 5 years or so, would I prefer to have the best version of this car? Or should I just keep what I have and enjoy having no car payments? Appreciate any advice
I was in a somewhat similar boat. Had a 2015 non-comp, non-EDC suspension and once I saw the pics and specs on the G80, bought a 2020 Comp with EDC.

I feel like most of the differences between the base and comp are largely cosmetic...and I do like them quite a bit...but the one thing I've really noticed is how much more I like the ride on the comp with EDC. I actually think it rides smoother, tighter and more compliant than my non-comp/non-EDC. Roads by me are so horrible, they can only be considered "roads" in the strictest definition of the word and I keep EDC set in Sport pretty much 100% of the time.

Pluses and minuses between them.

I had a choice between the non zcp and zcp. I actually prefer and chose the non comp. The seats in the comp felt too narrow towards the shoulder area and just felt more uncomfortable (although they look better).

Also I prefer the sound of the non comp and the wheels but that's subjective.

The only advantage the comp has in my opinion is the suspension hardware (sway bars, shocks, springs) and the blacked out accents (which luckily my non comp had but you can easily add them).

Have to weigh the pros and cons to see if it's significant enough to spend the money. I would definitely keep what you have.

I disagree with those saying the zcp has negligible difference. I own a non zcp and have driven zcp multiple times both stock and the suspension makes a decent difference. the rebound is much better. now I still agree that you should keep your current car. the money you're gonna save I would consider a nice set of edc coilovers, wheels if you don't like the 513/437m, front monoball upgrade and a tune if you're not satisfied with the power

Was about to do the same, 2015 base (but loaded) with 18k miles to a 2018 LCI ZCP (just as loaded minus full leather dash w/ MPE and OEM CF aero) w/ 20k miles. Would've had to pay 20k CAD (15k usd) after taxes if sold privately or 25k CAD (19k usd) if traded in.

Test drove the 2018 and quickly realized paying 20k only because I want the LCI headlights was a bad idea.

Over the past few months, I spent ~3.3k USD on ZCP sway bars, ZCP start button, VRSF single midpipe, MPE (used), BM3 + GTS DCT and MDM tune, 4x wheel spacers, MP HAS, Aftermarket CF front splitter -lip - sideskirts - spoiler -diffuser combo, LCI AC trim, Aftermarket IDrive touchscreen with Android Auto running iDrive 7 (G-chassis)

Feels like an improved version of the ZCP, still miss those LCI led headlights though. (Coupe pre-lci taillights are imo nicer with the more unique wing like lines)

I think what you did makes a lot of sense. I will keep mine and do some upgrades as you said. Also, I actually prefer the older headlight design. Where did you get an aftermarket touch screen? Never heard of that.

Good advice. I'm with you on the wheels. I prefer the 19s to the 20s. Plus they are more pot hole friendly.

911 is my favorite car ever. Grew up in the 80s lusting over the turbos then and loved them ever since. Had a 98 Boxster that I loved but the 911 is the pinnacle.

From Aliexpress. 10.25" 1080p display (better than the F15 upgrade that most people here on F80 bimmerpost are doing and at 1/3 of the price).

Huge thread on the Android iDrive here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1699764

Couple hours to install, everything works as expected. Old iDrive5 easily accessible with a tap of an icon. Cameras work the same, except are now displayed on a bigger and higher resolution screen. Google maps, play store, carplay support and more.

A few friends with LCI F8X just ordered the same unit to upgrade their ID6 to my ID7.

The only scenario I would consider doing a swap like this would be to go from DCT to manual or vice versa. Otherwise, there are small things you can do to the car you already have that will breathe new life into it for a fraction of the cost.

Great cars. Natural next step after M cars.

I've owned a bunch of BMW's and two 911's. Looking for a F80 6MT now as my dd.

keep and save money. its not worth the depreciation to upgrade to a CS which is pretty much the same car. lease turn ins are gonna happen in the summer and push down the values.
