I have a gintani flex dp which is of very high quality and no problem at all. The only problem I have is with my eisenmann rear section which causes vibration noises at 2k rpm. (Anyone have similar issue, please advise)

Valves open or closed?

We have the ER pipes on our M3 and I love the sound, both with valves closed and open (stock exhaust)

Open. I love the sound but I understand how people dont like the rasp that's up to of the RPM. Valves closed for me sounds deeper than stock.

Honestly, the rasp isn't that bad at least on my car with VRSF downpipes. In person, the car sounds mean as hell, especially on the overrun during an ALS event.

A free standing rev sounds good, especially when just blipping the throttle. Sounds nothing like the videos portray. Not that free-revs to rev-limiter are particularly impressive for any engine (and totally pointless), my M4 is deafening during one. At the rev-limiter, the exhaust note changes to a loud CRACK at the fuel cut-off which sounds more like a shit-ton of rasp in videos.

EDIT: The above reference to exhaust note is with valves open. Valves closed sounds louder than stock with valves closed and a little more "rattle". Valves closed sounds like shit no matter what, IMHO.

I love open as well.. Its such an aggressive exotic sound.. Best part is its controllable so its like having two exhausts on the car

Agreed. It does have some exotic sound that appeals to me a bit more than just a deeper low rumble. I think it makes it sound a bit more 'sporty'

Take a video and post it. If these were correctly installed you shouldn't experience any rattles.

I am debating whether to install VRSF downpipes on my car with the stock exhaust. Since these are catless, how do you guys pass emissions test every year? Vehicles less than 2 years old are exempt from emissions inspection in New York state. So I am good for the first 3 years (if I do the third inspection at the end of 2 year mark)? What happens after that?

Also, any problems with the cops (the car being too loud)?

Lastly, how much should I expect to spend for the installation?

Thanks in advance.

You wont have problems with noise ... It wont be anywhere near obnoxious
The only time you would even notice the louder sound is cold start in the morning and when you go wide open throttle

Install should take 3-4 hours for a regular mechanic

what about track noise restriction?

lime rock has a 92db restriction i believe and i wonder if a stock exhaust with DP will go above that limit
