Next service??

Just trying to work out what my next service should DEFINITELY be...

Car:
07/18 M4
Current mileage 20k

Service history:
09/18 (1,200 miles) Running in service
02/20 (8,731 miles) Engine oil, Microfilter
08/20 (11,933 miles) Brake fluid

Next service is now due, but should it be just an oil change or a major service (oil, spark plugs, etc)?

Dealer says major and Google kinda says the same, but I just want to be sure.

20K is just oil and filter for you.

Your cabin micro filter was done at 8K so you can do it again at 30 or 40K.

For best engine life I recommend quickie oil changes at the 5K intervals (just a dump and fill, no filter), and full oil service (with filter) at the 10K intervals. BMW Twin Power Turbo oil.

So I should be ignoring the time intervals and following only the mileage? That table shows spark plugs due at 30k miles / 36 months... My car is 40 months old now.

Yes, ignore the time intervals. Go by miles.

In your other post you make it more clear that the dealer already has recommended to do plugs now, so let them do the work if you're under maintenance/warranty.

That's the thing, I'm not under maintenance/warranty... I'll be paying for whatever they do. The dealer simply looked at my service history to date and said the plugs will need changing too as it's time for my 3rd oil change.

Yes the dealer is correct. For UK/European cars the major service is every 2nd oil change (excluding the RIS)

Don't know the reason (different climate?) but the service schedule is different for European and US vehicles. As you're in the UK your 1st major service will be after 4 yrs / 37k miles.

Here's the service schedule for European vehicles:

All garages I spoke to said plugs were due so I went for the major service in the end. Found a good independent specialist who did it for £250 cheaper than main dealers.

Advised that my front tyres were down to the cords on the inner edges so got a couple of Pilot Sport 4S and tracking done too.

An expensive couple of days.

Have any of you had the dealer do the 3yr/30k service much sooner?

Mine is covering the oil change, engine filter and spark plugs at only 2yr/18k.

I'm a little confused as I didnt know they'd cover under the regular maintenance plan and so soon.

I said go ahead why not. They also did the brake flush no charge 5 months ago.

🤷🏻

Hello, I want to do service for my car but I am confused and that is why I am searching for it online and I am glad I found your post. After reading your post, I will take my car to the service station for service. I am also very happy because when I was searching for your post online, I also found https://www.topessaywriting.org/samples/education website link in which I have found so many essay samples and I don't have to pay anything to read those samples.
