I miss the orange dials. its classic BMW. as mentioned above BMW chose it as it fatigues the eyes the least and allows you to see well at night just like how airplane cockpits used to be set. The E46 was the last M3 to have the orange dials.

I don't mind the white. My S4 has white gauges after all (and I do like it). It's just that Audi does a better job of tying it all together. I think Nick Murray had a point about this in his review of the S4 vs his M4 (anyone know what I'm talking about).

compared to the e9x, the f8x gauges look cheap and crappy no matter what color they are

I personally love the fact that the M4 doesn't have the amber dials. I for one, hated them on my past few BMW's

I loved the orange light in BMW's from when I was a kid in the 90's. Every other company at the time was using neon yellow so the orange stood out to me in my dad's old 7 series.
When I got my first BMW, a e92 335i, I loved the fact that they still stuck with the same color years later. When I got the e93 M I noticed they were white but I like them more because they are special. And you still get the orange in the center console. It would be cool though if they stayed white during the day and changed to orange at night like the non M models.

Orange lighting in the gauge cluster/instrument panel at night and white during the day? (To be clear...NOT the center console lighting) Would love this... |

I have barely noticed what color the lights are until I read this thread. lol. I did try changing from White to Orange then back to white. I like them both. Didn't really matter. :

Is it possible to change to white instead of amber in the center console? Not what's in the dash directly infant of you, but the radio and ac controls?
