Corporate M4 in carfax. Need advise!
Hello, I found one of the M4 GTS with one-owner vehicle.
Carfax shows it's a corporate car, with 4 tires replaced at about 3700 miles, and then 2 tires replaced at 4500 miles. That means this car was either a track car or a test car which was heavily tracked or launched many times, right? |

There are a few M School vehicles turning up recently - I had looked at one at a dealership the a couple of weeks ago. Good thing they disclosed it was a School car, ended up passing on it.
Few things to look for if seller/dealer won’t disclose - does it have the CCB’s? Are there scratches around the tow hook area? Do the bolsters show oddly heavy wear? All signs of a M School car. |

Just because it shows as a corporate leases it doesn't immediately mean the car was used for m schools. It could very well (and more than likely) just have been a leased vehicle. Who is the seller? What kind of background have they given on the vehicle? Get your dealer to run the maintenance history on the vehicle. They should be able to tell you why the 2 were replaced. You're looking at a GTS. It's highly possible the dude that leased the car used it as it was meant to be and that's why the tires were replaced on a "short" schedule. I wouldn't immediately worry.

If you are shopping for a GTS I would think you would go into it assuming the car was tracked. As suggested above, check the service history and understand you buying an expensive car to maintain.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!
I contacted the dealership and requested the history of the car. They asked me to drive the car to make sure I liked it first, then they can send the car back to service to get the information. Dealership is more than 200 miles away from my home. I think I am just going to pass. |

Corporate owned doesn't necessarily mean it was tracked. Could have been used in Press events or shows.
Request a copy of the CPO report. And even if it was tracked, you've got warranty. Cars are designed to take a beating right out of the factory. Longer term, yeah there may be issues. But do you really think you'll be keeping the car for 150,000 kms? |

"Drive 200 miles to come see/drive it. Then we'll consider giving you all the information about it." Yeah, I'd stay away. That response, alone, is shady enough to prevent me from considering this particular car or giving them my business at all.

But I would assume that an M4 GTS was tracked. That's what is was primarily designed for. If it bothers you that a car was used as it was designed, then stay away.

'Corporate' simply means the previous owner purchased it under a company name to use it as a tax write-off.
I am a GM at a car dealership and see this on daily bases. We do loans under company names pretty often. I would not let that stir me away from a car. Last edited by tashox2; 02-06-2020 at 09:08 PM.. |

OP, you can try to go to your local dealer with the VIN and ask a service advisor to glance at the DCS history and tell you what's been done to it up to this point. Is this car at a BMW dealer? Their unwillingness to provide more information would raise a red flag for me but there is always the chance you ran into an idiot salesman. I would deal with the internet department if they have one, or try to escalate to a sales manager. Unless they just got it in, chances are this car's been sitting on the lot for a while and they may be motivated to move it. GTS's are not hot sellers. |
