If it's a clunk, both my E36 and E92 do it. As someone said, it's the infamous M clunk, perfectly normal.

Mine does this too. I've driven manual all my life and this is the first car that does this. (just got it two days ago..!) I guess it's a normal thing for M.

In all M cars you can hear a quiet clunk, but I dont think ppl recalling it here are talking about the same lvl of noise. Ive had my my17 M2 for 13900km and never before has the sound been as loud as this. And only in first and second gear. It sounds like something is lose or broken. Ill bring it to a dealer in genova next week as im travelling around europe, but had a quick check earlier today at another dealer and they said it might be the diff.

def not a normal sound.

Reviving this thread. I've been noticing this same noise (1-2 shift clunk) last few days of new ownership. Seems to be normal for these cars.

Wonder if M car manual has DCV, Delay Clutch Valve in the hydraulic line to protect drive-shaft/rear-diff. This sometimes can make the car jerky until you know how to modulate it.

fack... my '13 genesis does this and i wrote it off to drivetrain slack/dual mass flywheel... since the drivetrain isn't super tight, there is a bit of shudder like you hear in the sound clip (thank you for posting OP). i notice mine when engaging clutch quickly while in gear and when engine braking specifically. usually notice in 1st because less ambient noise but i suppose it happen in any gear. was hoping this was just a cheap hyundai feature and buying an F80 would solve it for me

I have no such sound in my car. The only sound i can hear is a very slight whining from the rear diff at very low speed, otherwise no clunking like this. I have disengaged the revmatching too.
