I shop damaged cars and have owned several that were repaired correctly. I expect about a 10% price reduction. Damage has to be small, no airbag deployment and I have my body guy check repair. I have saved thousands and have never had an issue, and by the time I am done it does not seem to effect dealer trade in value.

Dealers will have a much higher hit (against you) than $2500 for any damage.

$5,000+ is not uncommon.

$500 wont come close to what a Carfax report on a simple accident will cost you.

The collision center did a great job on it so you'd never know, but the carfax doesn't lie.
Carfax doesn't lie? Are you serious. Clearly you've missed a number of threads.

I am going through this...a simple licence plate hole is going to down my resale.

but like i've given up on chasing things that happened out of my control. it is what it is. if you are driving a car like this; you have been blessed in life. no need to sulk over minuta.

you win some; you lose some...as long as the outcome is income.

i had way less damage then you, i only had like dent on the cover they replaced my bumper cover with a new one at the dealer. I got a report that said diminished value was like 7.5k but insurance only offered 1k, I could of taken to small claims and try max for 5k but man i was feeling lazy. I just took the 1k and called it a day.

Does not appear to have had its 1,200 mile break in service done. That could be an even bigger part of the discount.

people don't want cars that have had the bumper drilled into. You could try to bondo/repaint the area, but some F8x colors are nearly impossible to match.

A 10% reduction based off current kbb value? I am considering this M3 because it's a bit of a unicorn and would be exactly how I would order it.

Here is what was repaired (by a BMW Dealer)
$4,000 2 rims are they really this much?!
$700 2 tires
$8,900 for: tie rods, steering knuckles, struts, front bumper, wheel bearings and lower camber arm.
$5,000 in labor
Before buying I am having an independent body shop inspect it.

Thoughts.

When I was in the market for an E92 M3, I found a deal on a car with relatively low miles, however there was a slight indentation on the bottom corner of my front bumper from an accident where the air-bags were not deployed

With the desirable trim options and low mileage, along with my perceived initial value of the car, I'd say the car was $2-3k less than what it was supposed to be selling for based on similar car/years/trims/mileage with no accidents

In this case you're looking at an ~8-14% discount from selling price, depending on severity of the accident

Trust me, you don't want to be buying a a car with a ridiculously engineered chassis and highly tuned suspension after it has been curbed, especially if you plan on potentially tracking it or building it for the long run

Judging from that repair bill, I'm not surprised that a lot of the F80s suspension components were skyball figure expensive. Whether or not he had the accident covered by his insurance, the dealer warranty, or if he flat-out paid out of pocket that repair bill looks like the entire performance of the car must've gotten messed up
