not at all, I think they're comfortable coming from MPSS. I doubt they're as good though in the rain if that matters to you.
RE-11's are great in the rain. For their category, they do an amazing job of escalating water.

I don't know about RE-71r yet though, as I haven't had mine in much standing water.

One thing I would add on noise and maybe others can comment. for starters there isn't that drone or hum with some performance tires but there is one noise to get use to....the sound of stick. in chicago we have shit roads and there is a lot of patching that looks like black caulk, tons of lines of this crap. you actually hear the sound of "sticker ripping" especially under 45 and with the windows down. I've never heard it before, maybe this is normal in the extreme perf tire category. I'm fine with it but you definetly hear it

Good point actually, but for me that "sticking" sound almost disappeared after about 200 miles of driving, and then after one track event, completely gone. It's loudest when the tires are new and you drive over freshly paved tar roads or ones that have new painted stripes or stripped patching...At first I was like, "they weren't kidding when they said these tires were sticky"

Not crazy at all. I have 265/285 RE71Rs on my car and it's a daily driver. Been driving them for over 6 months, even at 80mph in the rain. I don't give them a second thought.

I'll take it a step further, after my RE-71r's are done I'm going to daily drive MSC2 tires. I thought they were 100 wear rating, but they are 180, which isn't that much worst.

I want superman grip!!!!!

Wasn't expecting more than 6k miles originally, but since I know switch them out for Mickey Thompson's when I hit the strip, they are going to last longer as my daily drivers. Maybe 8k? More if I'm gentle, which I doubt I'll be...

I don't really care how long they last. The extra grip is worth every penny. So much so, that I'm still tempted to run M/T Street S/S's full time. They are freakin awesome. Only worry is rain with them, although might still be worth it.

Don't sweat the RE71Rs. They are way better than stock MPSS's, but are mild compared to much more extreme alternatives, and a perfectly usable daily driver tire.

I'm with you, man. I might switch to Mickey Thompson Street S/S 305s full time. Such awesome grip...

Having said that though, it's a real shame you need that extreme of a tire to use the power it has.

I think they could have done a better job to extract that power to the ground, many other cars have done it.

RE71r were great in the rain, but with any tire I try to avoid hitting standing water.

You guys seriously have me tempted to make the switch from PSS to RE71s.

I don't care about wet traction at all, only dry traction and comfort (noise)...especially noise once they're about half way through their cycle.

I do love me some PSS, but if the grip is significantly better, and they're cheaper, that's a tough combo to pass up.

Grip IS significantly better, but they ARE noisier.
That said, I will never go back to PSS. The grip is totally worth it.

Just ordered set of 265/285 (stock 19" wheels), curious to see how they perform. Slightly worried about the front fitment because I run KW HAS and how the inner clearance will be. I have currently run 15f/12r spacers but that might be too much for these.

Nice shot and car, do you mind sharing the wheel (color?)/tire specs? I saw in another thread your specs for wheels with R888 but here you mention RE71R! I also have MG and wondering what color to get for track wheels, my 19" OEM are the silver /grey ones. Thanks.

I have 12mm front and there is rubbing, and i hear someone say with this setup, the front spacer should no more than 10 mm

Good times at the track, wore the front down after 8 days, 36 sessions, flipped on rim after 5th day : ) A tad corded on one side haha. Highly reco the tires to anyone tracking, and they work great on the road as well.

I have the same size spacers from bms, I had them on for only a few days and pulled them off. I have the 265/285-19 re71r's and felt a little rubbing in the front wheels on the airport parking ramp, so I pulled them. honestly, the look is ok without the spacers because of how squared off these tires are.

Thanks, seriously considering these. Don't need wet traction at all, only dry....

How much noisier are RE71Rs compared to MPSS? Does anyone have a dB measurement (or estimate)?
