Thoughts on 2015 M4 verts

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I am looking at 2015 M4 verts. I also have a Jeep, and the M4 will never be taken out in poor weather, but will otherwise essentially be a daily driver 2-3 seasons of the year.
I have been looking on line and have found several extremely low mile vehicles for sale in the 51-54 range (10k miles).
My local dealer just got in 2015 with 24000 miles. They CPO'd it, and put new shoes on her (super sports). They knocked a few grand off sale price, but I'm concerned about the miles already on her. I asked about the previous owner, and the car was bought from that store and always serviced there.. Previous owner was a middle aged guy (like myself) so probably didn't beat her up too bad.
My question, is at what point to miles become an issue on these engines? What can I expect at 40, 50k miles? Its got a year on the factory, and another on the cpo, so almost 2 years of warranty are taken care of.
Would you go with a non-cpo'd car from a random used car dealer found online with 10k miles or certified from your local dealer with 24k miles (sale price is basically the same)?
Sorry for the long post...Obviously no actual work will be getting done today.

Hi, and welcome to Bimmerpost. These types of questions come up often, and there is a lot great discussion on this:

I don't know about f83 but the hardtop on my e89 z4 caused a lot of service visits in the 3 years I had the car.

For what it's worth, I think you need to search hard in the 4 series forums too to get a good idea of the top. Seems ok here but not as many cars

If worried about maintenance and out of warranty service, think about leasing a new one and giving it back when the lease ends.

So...YMMV, but my M3 vert (E93) ran like a watch for 100k miles, and my M4 vert has 48k with no real issues.

Hard top on the E93 has to be adjusted twice, but that's about it.

In your case, feel like there's too much of a mileage spread for the CPO, but don't know the price diff?

We have a 2011 E93 and have had no problem at all with the top in over 80k miles. It has been a 4 season daily driver for the last 65k. I do lubricate the seals and hinge points a couple times a year but it has been way more reliable than I ever expected. I wouldn't worry about it.

If your talking about the Black Sapphire/Silverstone M4, it seems a little expensive given it's mileage and options. The certified warranty is nice (and an expensive add-on for M cars) but remember that the basic certified warranty is now only 1 year, not 2.

I recently purchased a 2015 F83 and am happy to give you an option/price comparison via PM if your interested.
