Even a fully optioned individual F80 at $105k+ isn't a supercar. Even a M4 GTS isn't a supercar. He's in for a surprise when he sees what a real supercar payment is.

Can we agree the Audi is more exotic than the BMW
Fun light hearted question, how many exotics do you see in this photo?

100% agreed, both mid-engine but from two different eras Honda really did something special with the NSX, it's a total keeper and the one car I would never sell. The other cars are all replaceable IMO. But the M3 is really the jack of all trades, the Swiss army knife of the bunch. It does everything well and probably the first car I'd grab keys to go anywhere, from the track to a road trip. BMW did well with the new M3 and offering it in a 6-speed manual like mine is the cream of the crop

I've had almost every generation M3 and it's always been a manual tranny. I made the mistake of buying my e90 m3 in a paddle, hated it and the car lasted less than a year before I got rid of it. I hate paddles in general (my last few R8's had gated shifters) and recently decided to try a Huracan. Not a fan of the paddles so I just leave it in Auto Race mode but then the shifts are so aggressive it shocks my wife everytime on deceleration...... Put the R8 gated shifter in the Huracan and I can die happy

A Ferrari F12 is also, at minimum, 4yrs older than a X3M. So much has happened in terms of tech in the last year much less 4yrs ago so of course the BMW will feel much better and newer but nobody with $250k is gonna buy 5 X3M’s over 1 F12 lol. They’re also very performance oriented so the daily drivability goes down significantly. End of the day, It’s not about the money for some people. It’s about having something that not only turns head but holds value long term as only limited production numbers can do. Don’t get me wrong I love my M3 but let’s be honest if I had the opportunity to swap for a super car I’d do it in a heart beat. Of course maintenance has to be included in the swap 😂 |

When I was in the market and actively looking for an F80 M3, it had to have a 6MT, with under 10K on the odometer. Then my requirements changed slightly, but the manual trans was always at the top of my list, along with CF roof, extended leather, etc...

They’re not “rare” because they’re not built from the ground up. They’re all up tier spec built off exisiting base models. I also literally said in my post that I’m not talking about spec. Try again. |

What is the Z8 built off of? I don’t care if they’re built off of an existing platform and they’re “tier spec”. It’s “rare” if you can’t easily find one for sale or at a realistic price. “tier spec” requires even more development over an already “tier spec” chassis. Good luck finding a stock M3 lightweight, M3 CSL and a M3 GTS. That’s “rarity” in my book. A lot of cars, even super cars and hyper cars, are built off of the same chassis/platform.
