Exclamation Sudden Drive Loss M4 DCT HELP!

Hi Guys

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, so please forgive me if it isn't (I'm new here!). While driving "spiritedly" I shifted from 1st to 2nd gear and heard a loud bang then suddenly lost drive. Shifted into neutral and back into gear to try and get off the road and the car wouldn't move at all - just revved like it was in neutral. It eventually struggled forward. Definitely felt like the clutch was slipping and there was a grating noise coming from the transmission. No warning lights whatsoever. I'm hoping it could be driveshaft (propshaft) related and nothing to with the actual transmission or clutches. Although if it was in fact driveshaft related then I presume the car wouldn't move at all? Car is a 2016 M4 DCT, 43k miles with the following mods:

- BM3 OTS Stage 2 91 octane flash
- GTS Transmission flash
- Front mount intakes
- Cat**** downpipes
- M Performance exhaust

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Broken axle (half-shaft) between Diff and Wheel??? Maybe the diff went into lockup just enough to get you moving…to limp off the road to the shoulder, for example.

I'm just suggesting but don't know for sure. A buddy broke (didn't snap) a half-shaft drag racing and he mentioned the crunchy sound from the universal joints.

Yeah I'm hoping it's that or something similar but the noise was definitely coming from further forward. Car is at the shop now so I guess we'll find out soon enough. Hoping it isn't a massive repair bill.

Does it clunk if one spins their crank hub? Perhaps if it completely disconnects? I'm asking, not suggesting.

Usually no loud noise when the hub spins but I doubt its that as the engine runs fine and there's no warning lights
