Two things

1. Did anyone get a recall notice concerning the underbody carriage? I'm bringing my car in tomorrow.
2. Did any early vert owners get the BMW cash credit or did the retrofit on the luggage space issue (e.g. opening up that wall between the truck and the back seats)? My dealer is not aware of such a BMW campaign. If anyone has docs that show that, that would be cool!

Thanks!!!

The interior leather is treated with a sun reflective material which is very effective.

I got my dealer to agree to it but they had to dig and dig to find the program. It took a while.

I've not heard anything about an underbody recall. Sure the hell hope my car doesn't have that problem. How do you know if your car is affected?

Hey Robert, your black interior is gorgeous. Glad to hear it's not too hot! Gives me hope that my Amaro interior will be comfortable as well.

I have the black interior and have been quite impressed with how well the sun reflective treatment works. The seats will get hot in direct sun, but honestly I think the silverstone (leatherette?) seats in the 320i loaner I had for a day were much worse. Damn those seats were hot.

Received a letter from BMW NA yesterday about the pass-through retrofit. They provided a 800 number, and said they would coordinate the work with the local dealership.

Hey Raj, I didn't go back far enough to see you had stated it.... It's perfectly fine with black with the 95F days that we've had over the past weeks.

See you soon.

Okay, I got an automatic email alerting of the recall. That said, if you get that email please make sure that when you speak to your service POC, that the parts for the recall are actually in stock. I dropped my car this morning and my service rep wasn't even sure the parts for that recall were in. I'll update when I pick up the car later.

===> parts not in until tomorrow.

If anyone can scan and post their letter for that trunk retrofit, given you "black out" your personal stuff, that would be helpful!!!

Spoke to my service guy and he thinks the dealership will do the retrofit if they have an idea the letter exists.

When are the ventilated seats coming? I'm begging to to upgrade my E85 for an F83, but my black leather seats are damn hot here in NC. Either they didn't have the reflective coating in '03 or the sun bakes 2-seaters more than 4-seaters.

Prolly not coming. Seat is already "ventilated" with the neck warmer.

Is the neck warmer also a cooler? It is blowing cold when the AC is on?

I like that the F83 is a coupe when the top is up an a vert when down. Obviously the F82 has advantages in coupe mode, but for someone who is unlikely to track it like me, it gives me the fun of my E85 with back seats and a lot more practicality.

In the meantime, my sideline lurking could be ended with a little cold air up the caboose. It's one thing I love about my Jeep and miss in my Z4.

No its only a heater. It doesn't act as a cooling vent. My only point is, since there's already one set of vent ducts in the seat it's hard to see how they would get a second in there. I don't think its coming.

That said, as someone who had ventilated seats before, I'll never buy them again. After a couple of years of hopping into my old IS350 right after the gym, the whole car started smelling like sweat and I couldn't get it out. Sweat got into the foam below the leather. No thanks.
