Grip was hard to judge due the apocalypse dust storm in the afternoon. Tires weren’t toast, but maximum 1 more day - 3 days total would be max.

Would a larger size fare better? Maybe

Drool

They were in the “prototype” class and surprisingly, a GT1 was really close. But all running stupid fast lap times.

What are the best two choices for pads on stock brakes?

I've been running Dsunos for the past 3 years and was wondering if I should switch to PFC 08 or 11. Perhaps they're better than the Dsuno and I've been missing out.

I would go to the PFC11 pad if you're hard on the brakes. It works so well, beds itself in, lasts a good amount, doesn't overheat, etc.

The 08 is an older compound for endurance. It's great as well, but the PFC11 is quieter and I prefer it for the street/track.

I've lost count how many PFC11 pads I've gone through in M3s, they are a goldilocks solution

I’ve been running PFC08’s on my previous and current M4.
I got about 2k track miles on a set of PFC08’s before replacing on my 2019 M4 including 7 track days at COTA which is the fastest track I run. They do squeal really bad when cold, even when heating on the track.

Squeal enough that it becomes conversation in the pits after the session.

Yeah, ill hop on the PFC08 train. I have done 7 track days with my set so far. Really like them on track. But people stare me down like I killed someone when i brake on public roads. Extremely loud. Never quiet. Cant go but a few days after an event and i have to swap.

Ive debated doing the ferado 2500 road setup then swapping just the fronts to 1.11 for track days. Seems a little less of a hassle and also gives me a reason to upgrade oem pads.

Wheel bearing "preventative" replacement?

There's some other threads on this I've seen (eg, https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1553901)

... but was looking for any updated guru-level experience/observations/recommendations for thinking about wheel bearing upkeep in our cars. For dual street/track duty, are any of you replacing at a certain interval/mileage? If so, all 4 corners? Just rears? Or just waiting for symptoms to show up? I'm out of warranty, coming up on 40K miles, do 6-8 events/year, running 100tw stuff, just upgraded to B16 suspension.

Thanks

Unless you're dong tons of track time I wouldn't be worried at 40k miles.

The fronts get beaten up the most. The rears are really difficult to drive.

One of my cars that only gets driven to/from (and on!) the track has stock rears and the fronts have been replaced. 62k miles.

I thought I'd throw this out there as I've seen some discussion on tires. Planning for tires after my PS4S and I run 19x9.5/10.5 with 275/30-/295/30. What are you guys liking more, optimal tread width or a generally wider tire? If I'm looking for a tighter sidewall I could downsize to something like 265/35-285/35. Or for the Goodyear SC3 you can do a little of both with 265/35-305/30. RT660 has similar options although runs a little wider.

Seems like the old discussion of maximizing how fast a tire can go vs how fast a wheel can go. I'd love to hear input from the experienced guys for this specific platform.

I try to use the widest wheel that fits well square, which is 10.5". I pair it with a 275 tire which yields a very slight stretch. Sometimes I put a 285 on there as well.

Dropped 2 at Willow Springs/Streets last weekend and bent 1 wheel pretty good. Good to hear Bimmerworld has same wheel replacement policy as competitors at 50% off.

Anyone have better luck with forged? Really interested in the strength delta when kissing curbs, not dropping wheels. Have a couple wheels only lightly bent, likely from curbs. Work OK on the rear, but prefer straight wheels.
