These things are priceless. This is about 6mos worth I figure. Turns out my drain line isn't draining when I open the valve... Good thing I checked the dipstick! Was FULL.

I only ran E30 and E85 for the last 2K miles. Looks like water with a little oil mixed in, and has a faint fuel/alcohol smell. I guess pushing 28PSI on Paul's E tune there's got to be some blow by.

PS: I love the clean look of the Turner silicone hoses.

Here’s my Mishimoto can drippings after about 7k miles. This drains into a valve under my car so direct from the spigot into my beer pong cup.

Run hard on occasion. Not a track rat by any means but also not running any E blends.

One thing I don't understand about the Turner setup – and this is a question – why didn't they put a downward series of bends in their mount so it drops the catch can another 1" (max) lower, so you could use the freaking dipstick?

Is the space in that alcove so tight that you couldn't get an extra inch lower?

(i was just about to buy this one and realized the dip stick is worthless because of the carbon strut bar covering it)

2500 miles later on my 2020 M2C using the Mishimoto kit.

Smelled like oil but looked more like water. Didn't feel the liquid so I'm not certain. Either way im happy that this liquid and "gunk" is caught.

For the Mishimoto system, I would add a drain line to the bottom so you can drain it with a ball valve. Mishimoto sells the kit and other than needing to trim the plastic adapter to better sit flush to the bottom of the container, it makes for draining much simpler with all the gunk you’re collecting.

I thought i would post my first OCC drain. 13 months and 1,100 miles. Mishimoto OCC. Smells like oil.

Good thing the Turner OCC has a dipstick. Easy to unscrew the little knob and insert fish tank tube to suck the OCC dry. No need to unscrew the can, I do it whenever my brace comes off. I wrench a good bit for self therapy...

Maybe running E mixes during winter driving adds to the catch? Here's what I got over the last 3 months (see tape on jar for each month). That's a lot of vapor catch!!!

The OCC was good investment for you. It caught a lot of gunk that wouldve recycled into the intake.

Did you fix your drain tube to drain? Mine drained out easily like there was slight pressure.

After removing the line, capping the drain, and reassembly I did more digging to find the problem. Turns out a bee decided to crawl up the tube and die...then a spider found him and built a home. The web really plugged the line.

I've resolved to check it once a month since I like the wrenching as Isolation therapy.

Yesterday I took apart the Turner OCC to give it some mods. Since most of my blow-by is from E30-85 the "catch" contains a lot of water. I took a ChorBoy copper scrubbie and unwound a good bit to make three small wads to stuff in the OCC's baffles. The remainder of the copper mesh was formed into a cylinder that fits into the OCC metal cup. The added surface area of cool metal should allow more moisture to be caught in the can.

Since I had an injector failure before I learned that dumped a lot of fuel into my oil. Alcohol pulls in moisture. I needed a triple oil change to get the crankcase fully flushed (no more milk showing on the fill cap). The OCC mod should help separate out any moisture that might remain.

Interesting. Do you believe that this modification will help pull in more moisture or wick it from atmospheric vent pressure? The catch can is passively accumulating the gunk forced out of the tube anyway.

I saw your last picture first since I scrolled to the bottom really fast and thought you just added some bling to your water bottle at first 🤣

Its essentially a filter element that helps with air/oil separation. The moisture/oil from the air has more surface area to attach itself to and drain down. Thats what all those other mesh panels are for too.

Normally you would want the air to come in low on the can through the filter media and the exit would be higher to be more efficient. Correct term would be called baffled.

BzsBimmer the mesh is there to help collect extra condensation. I noticed that since the OCC mounts up front by the grille that driving airflow cools the can. As the turbo inlet sucks vapor from the crankcase more vapor should condense on the copper mesh than on empty can walls.

Now I've gotta use your new idea for water bottle bling!
Step aside Swarovski...

I ordered my Mishimoto Oil Catch Can via Amazon and it arrived in 3 days. Was impressed with the product as that's why I chose it. Catch Can looks very OEM+ and install was relatively simple. I'll report back in a few thousand miles from now.

Which catch can pushes the can the furthest to the right toward the driver? I'm afraid my intake and heat shield ducting are going to block the can from sitting in place. See below

^ what intake and ducting do you have?
