As much as I hate to admit it, the ASD is not all that bad
I have ASD enabled, stock cats, AA non res EL Midpipe and stock non-comp muffler (is there even a difference between comp and non-comp mufflers?).
I have my valves coded to open and closed based on engine setting.

For background, I drive with my windows down ~75% of the time.

I cannot perceive a difference between the true exhaust note and ASD, although I might not be as sensitive as you. Maybe its because ASD is supposed to fake the car sounding like an actual straight six?

Windows up or down, ASD doesn't bother me with the valves opened or closed.

This midpipe has been the perfect modification. I really appreciate its duality, sounds like hell with the valves open, and nearly stock volume while closed. Someone mentioned the appears of similar volume may be driven from a smoother sound.

Exactly the formula I'm looking for.

Will be pulling the trigger on the non-res mid pipe soon.

Only bummed out about bbq spray painting the muffler. It just.. doesn't feel like something that should be done on an M. But then again, forking out another 2k for the same sound, also isn't a very smart investment.

I got mine installed yesterday evening. DIY in my garage with some jack stands. Totally doable. If I were to do it again I think I'd take the entire exhaust down so that I could make the cuts to the OE exhaust a bit cleaner. It's difficult to get good leverage and make a clean straight cut with a sawzall whilst laying on the floor under the car. Not impossible obviously but that's just my thoughts.

The sound insane! Fully stock ZCP + Non Res EL. My olny addition is the CG PRECISION VSC-2 valve controller which I highly recommend. I have full control of the valves independent of drive mode. Especially helpful with this system to make a true quiet mode for morning startups.

Honestly isn’t that bad, It makes the muffler pretty inconspicuous unless you are specifically looking for it, which is the goal of painting it. Attached a pic as if you were eye level with the license plate. Any viewing angle higher and you straight up won’t see it

Edit: I specifically used VHT high heat header paint. If you want to try something premium, you could look at Cerakote C Series. They have some really nice colors and it’s used on all manner of engines parts. It’s ceramic based so very high heat tolerance

I posted these although they are quite limited. Can record something later/this weekend - any situation in particular?

Did you start with a coat of their primer first? It's weird, I've gone through 2 mufflers on my F80. I painted the first one with same VHT header paint, a couple coats, but no primer, and for most part, it held up well.

When I got the 2nd muffler (mechanical issue with exhaust valves), I did the process again, but this time started with a coat of their primer, followed all directions to a T (wait times, multiple coats of the black, etc), but the paint didn't stick, flaking off everywhere. Grrr. Maybe I should have sanded the new muffler a bit first? Any ideas?

Thx

I didn’t use any primer - I just made sure to clean the muffler as best as I could and used wire wool to knock off as much tarnish/dirt as possible and also to pseudo-prep the metal for paint. I got about 5 coats on the muffler & pipe assemble front and back with one can of VHT. I also didn’t cure it per instructions, just took it for a drive post install and let it cool overnight. One massive factor is I live in NorCal and we don’t exactly have many corrosive conditions out here, heck my OE 2016 midpipe looked like it was a couple months old, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

I am getting my stock comp exhaust Cerekoted right now and should be ready this week. A local shop is charging me $400 to do it. I am also thinking about selling it to get the AA Madmax. My exhaust setup will be ER cat less Downpipe and AA EL resonated mid pipe. I will post pics and videos of the sound when done.
