If you guys read the article, these are not real F80 M3's. They are "fake" M3's. In other words, 3-series' designed to look like M3's.

i cried inside.... and outside too.

I talked to a BMW driving instructor over the weekend asking what do they do with cars used for autocross, production cars and special events like this - they simply crush them. So think about the perfectly good S55 engines getting an early death...

Exactly! To save money, they use body kits. In the original Miami Vice TV series, they used a Ferrari replica car instead of an actual Ferrari.

Well, they can't all be fakes. In the picture where the car does not have a hood, that is definitely an M motor, not a regular 3-series.
