I would love to hear the burbles more as i just picked up the car, do you hear it more in sport/sports plus mode with or without windows down? Whats the best way, press the gas and release the gas pedal when standstill or u can hear it loud during downshifts?

Just picked up the car 2 days back and hence the basic questions

Just let the engine over run in a low gear (accelerate and then let off the gas and coast in gear). It's also what I think delays the rev drop in between gears and makes gear changes slower (6MT)

thanks is it only in sports plus mode , i am not hearing much with windows rolled up in sports mode and none at efficient mode. Is it very audible from inside the car. Again i am not going past 4K due to break in.

Plz advice

Sweet spot is 2600-3000RPM then let go the gas. Around 2nd/3rd gear.

Throttle overrun is audible in Sports and Sports+ modes. You should hear it without having to exceed 4k rpms.

You should even hear it when just changing from 1st to 2nd gear as the revs come down with the windows down

Ya dude. I took a test drive on a brand new F82 at my local dealer before deciding on the car. It was just my wife and a "genius" with me in the car. Floored that sucker and hit 120 mph on that ride. We are all gonna get rid of these cars before there are any issues down the line anyway. How many of us are gonna keep the F8x past 100,000. Not many

Man u make me feel horrible for buying a car on the lot which had just 42 miles , even the cars i ordered had around 10 miles which could have been revved bad during the 1st 10 miles by dealer itself

So i should not follow "break in period"?

Sorry dude. Wasn't trying to make you feel bad. Was really just messing around. I think break in is complete bullshit. My opinion. All of our engines have been put through the "ringer" before being placed in the cars at the factory. Fact.

I don't want to start another break in OT discussion. Let's just say the wifey and I have done a bunch of EDs and we blast out of the Welt onto the Autobahn and hit the limiter every time with ZERO issues.

Im sure your ride is fine. Don't worry about it. Drive and enjoy

It'll be fine. Be sensible, don't sweat the small things, and enjoy the car.

So... b/c you beat the shit out of car and get rid of it before warranty means that your theory on break-ins are more correct than those of BMW's engineers?

I've always broken my cars in properly and they've all lasted well over 100k with 0 major issues.

Opinions vary. Driving a car hard isn't beating on it. Just saying.

Question on seats... are the side bolsters on the ZCP adjustable? I know there isn't lumbar support adjustment, but wasn't sure if the adjustability of the bolsters was also removed. I'm coming from a 2015 non-ZCP f80.

I am in negotiations for a new M4 to replace my 2015.

I am considering the competition package but will have to test drive one before I make a decision. I definitely do not want 20" rims and am concerned about the ride quality. I have to admit I am gun shy after the "Pothole Explosions" episodes I had with my 2015 335i with RFTs and Sport Suspension.

If I find the ride quality on the competition pack to be uncomfortable I will pass on it but I suspect that it will be acceptable.

We won't know until we can get the written recommendations of the BMW engineers ... right now all we have to go on is what the lawyers wrote in the owners manual.

PS - All BMW cars are driven on a test track prior to leaving the factory and all BMW engines are cold and warm bench tested. You can watch the videos on youtube and I was just at the munich factory and watched them drive the cars out to the track in batches of 5. That's not to say there aren't benefits from the 1200 mile service - that is without question.

As for whether his theory is "correct" ... he certainly doesn't give a shit one way or another, but if it makes you feel better, go for it. Break it in for 5 years. Probably makes it last longer.

And just to keep this on topic, I'm more/less following "break in" with my CP simply because I like build confidence that nothing is going to wing off and I understand the car. But I'd be lying if I said I was strict about it.
