had mine replaced yesterday

was under car this morning doing oil change and can confirm i have another cfrp propshaft

what i did notice though is how much smoother the drivetrain is overall, especially feel it getting on/off throttle in sport/sport+ in terms of lack of bucking.

even going up through gears with high throttle load feels almost zf8 smooth at each dct upchange

i would also get this random thud from rear end moving off from rest in sport+, i haven't been able to replicate that

only thing i can think of maybe there was some play in mine where it mated up to trans or diff, and if so, i wonder how long it's been like this

So driveshaft replaced with CF.
I warned them to be careful car is low.
The still broke my sideskirt.
But obviously replaced it with a new one.
Parts as in the driveshaft was sitting there for months no one had called me.
Anyways done and forgotten. Just updating.
😊🙏🏽
This car is so much fun ☺️

I am insuring the car tomorrow anyways and dropping it off at the shop thursday for new suspension (kw clubsport 2way), and will drive it as usual until new driveshaft arrives...

2 questions friends :

1. we have not heard of any drive shafts actually failing before being replaced have we ?? (not too worried bout this)

2. will having installed coilovers affect this driveshaft recall, i think there is a thread on here where someone got denied their driveshaft due to having installed downpipes .. (got me a bit worried) but i had casually asked the shop and they had said should be fine, anyone know for sure ?

thx !!

I have an appointment tomorrow to have mine replaced. Are there any specific questions that I should be asking?

Also, are the replacements carbon fiber or steel?

It should be carbon fiber and take about 4-5 hours. Just ask whatever you want but the SA is clueless most of the time.

It’s CF. Pretty painless.

Make sure you get a loaner to thrash for the afternoon

this is good news! i received a notice on my idrive the other day that my car needs to be brought in for this recall. hopefully, the update will solve my random thud as well.

Finally got mine replaced yesterday. The dealer pre-ordered the part and it seemed like it took ~2 months for it to arrive. The part number on the work order matches what everyone else has so I believe it should be carbon fiber: 26-10-9-882-181

The car seems smoother now but it might be a placebo effect.

I don’t think it’s Placebo,,, mine was replaced today and I can confirm that it was CF as well,,, now in my case,, they replaced the spark plugs as well but for me there is definitely a significant change in the feel of the car,, felt a lot more responsive and smoother power delivery .. Very pleasant surprise .. bottom line not sure if its the spark plugs or the drive shaft but it’s definitely better.

murmur why would the dealer randomly replace your plugs? i know they love to relace the windshield wipes every time i'm in but replacing plugs is a bit random.

not sure actually, I will be running out of maintenance later this year and had told my SA to replace what ever needs / can be done. Its listed as "customer states replace spark plugs". I am no where close to the mileage recommended for the spark plug service as I split the miles between the M and my DD.

In any case, I as I had said, dont know which one is doing it (diff or the plugs) but its definitely more responsive and smooth. FWIW I am 6MT.
