ITB?
Could the new M4 engine have ITB and if so, what is the advantage?

Is it technically feadible? Sure. Is it likely given where BMW went with the S63Tu in the M5/M6? No, not in my opinion.
The advantage is sharper throttle response than a single throttle body. But Valvetronic essentially makes it a wash. I am not sure how the two compare in the areas of weight, cost, and reliability. I imagine there are trade-offs both ways. But since the N55 already has Valvetronic, that is the likely route. The only possible stumbling block would be making it work at nearly 8k RPM. But I think they will have figured that out. |
