Software Update and Versions
Can someone with a 2020 or 2019 please share the current software version on their vehicle.
My vehicle iDrive settings Software update Show current version I have a 2018 with current versions: TB 006.027.001 Media 006.027.001 When I go to the website and type in my VIN it says there is an update available with the current versions: TB 001.062.032 MB 001.062.040 HB 001.062.032 I would have guessed based on the numbers that my current version appears to be newer than than what is being recommended to update too. The only reason I'm exploring this is because my phone has been having issues connecting via Bluetooth on a couple of occasions.

The software releases will be different per the manufacturing date of the vehicle on several levels. Obviously the I-Drive (#) and then the series of the car, with options packages being the 3rd indent. The numbers you are seeing on their release page is a serialization based on their internal data, its arbitrary to external users. I'm guessing each level of customization difference carries its own software # to different options. Just because yours is 1.067 does not necessarily mean its better than 2.052, BMW is notorious for having TERRIBLE software engineers creating their API's and firmwares.
If you did your software update via the BMW website/USB stick or OTA then you have the latest versions of everything according to your specific vin make up. Something I've found that worked in the past was disconnect the batter for a half hour (turn it off and turn it back on) it fixed my Idrive freezing problems. Hope this helps? |

Updating iStep has updated the HU software to higher levels available online for download. Many have experienced this. |

Telephone: TB-006.074.002 Media: MB-006.074.002 The BMW website showed me the same options as you got: TB 001.062.032 MB 001.062.040 HB 001.062.032 I am also unable to make any sense of BMW's versioning nomenclature. In addition, after repeatedly following their instructions to a T, I am unable to update via USB. I've tried with various USB drives containing the .bin file as is, and also having decompressed/expanded the .bin file as recommended on one of the videos I found on YouTube. No luck. I do have to say that these problems with bluetooth etc began after the dealer "upgraded" the software on the car for an unrelated issue. |

This is exactly what I was curious about. Thank you for sharing this. I have not attempted to update via the website yet. Perhaps I will give it a shot now. Will let you know if I have any success.

Please do post the results.
It's incredibly irritating not being able to reliably use a feature I'm paying extra for (i.e. CarPlay) thanks to the dealer making an istep upgrade for no reason, breaking things in the process. Now the fact that I can't upgrade iDrive is just adding fuel to the fire... |
