Repainting BSM M3 - Will it look perfect?

I own a Black Sapphire Metallic M3 that is going to have everything repainted except the trunk and rear bumper. I was on the freeway when two rock trucks boxed me in and damaged my paint, carbon roof, headlights, and grill.

My insurance is now paying for over 20k in damages. I’m going to a certified BMW body shop to get it repainted. I’m praying that the paint job will be OEM quality and my car will look the same!

Has anyone ever gone through this and had the paint didn’t come out perfect?

If you're going that far just pay out of pocket to spray the trunk and bumper...

Man I'm sorry to hear this. I would repaint and then trade in the car.

wont match without painting the whole car (body shop should convince the insurance company of this easily, or at least the rear bumper as well and then you pay for the trunk)

While it wont match factory, it might actually look better and flatter without all the orange peel.

Eric is correct, as usual. Get the insurance company to cover all of it; they shouldn't give you a hard time; the car has to be returned to pre-accident condition and it won't if 2 panels are left undone.

Don't choose the shop just because it is BMW-certified. I don't think BMW pays much attention to the certification process. Go on the local bar area sub-forum here and ask members for recommendations on the best shop based on their experiences. Then have that shop work with the insurance company.

Did it damage the glass also? I just know how I am with my previously damaged cars and it never is completely satisfactory. You just have to live with imperfections or sell it.
