Focal IFBMW-SUB 8″: Anyone tried yet in F8X?
I know a few folks have had good luck with the Jenhert drop in replacement subs, but has anyone tried the Focal? My buddy is a Focal dealer, so I was going to give the drop-in's a shot if there wasn't a reason they wouldn't work.
thanks rm

I just stumbled upon this product as well, very interested. This might be a good alternative to replacing the under seat woofers, much better than waiting on BavSound to come out with theirs...
Anyone try them yet? http://www.focal.com/en/integration-...ifbmw-sub.html

According to this video, they were fitted to an F30. I don't think they will be a problem for the F80.

If you power the HK OEM woofers with an aftermarket amp of at least 150W RMS then there is no need to replace the OEM woofers.
Regardless... any aftermarket woofer in the HK system will create a heating problem long term with the OEM amp as it is not stable at less than 7ohms. |

According to the spec sheets, these look like 3.6 ohms. Are the subs wired in series from the HK amp?

Agreed with Technic that you'll want to match the Ohms between the amp and speaker (ideal) or run a speaker with a higher Ohm load than the amp (not ideal, but safe). Otherwise, I recommend waiting for BAVSOUND's release:

hey can anyone give the specs for the stock subs under the seat?
I am planning to replace them anyways but I figure I might just buy an amp first and see if powering them off a separate amp would give me the bass I want. |

also I read this disclaimer in case you have a HK upgraded system
* Compatible with Base Edition audio system. Non compatible with Business or Top Hifi Edition I think aftermarket amp is the way to go, I am not positive but I think I read somewhere the stock subs are like 7ohms? Hard to find a match and if you do, I think the stock amp is under powered. |
