Also put an order in for the 360 about 2 weeks ago. Got it for ~$589.
It was between that and a V1 for me, and to be honest, the V1 is outdated in all areas to me and the 360 had many things I was looking for - GPS, built in cam database, configurable via phone. The V1 can do the configurable by phone, but you ALWAYS have to have it on and connected - no thanks. That said, if I don't like it I have 30 days to return it and get a V1 if needed. Hopefully they ship on time... and literally as I was typing this just got an email saying they will ship this week / next. |

radarbusters with the "radarroy-2015" coupon code.
The only thing I'm worried about when watching the videos of it are the size - it's pretty damn big, but kinda expected that with all that's packed in it. Measurements are 1.360" H x 3.60" W x 5.430" L.... which is about an inch longer and .36 inches taller than a V1. |

I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and still no ship date and as of yesterday they already shipped out all of the wave 1 orders with more units coming each week but they can't tell me which wave I'm in.
It's like waiting for my F80 all over again...should we start a tracking thread in how to "stalk" these shipments? |

Ended up just ordering a V1 today - Neither escort nor the vendor I bought from have a firm ship date, and I needed an RD ASAP.
I'm going until mid week to hear something, then if I don't have a solid date I'm cancelling my order. The lack of commitment on a ship date and the problems with the Max 360 that are showing up (shocker huh?) are pushing me towards backing out... |

Granted the 1.2 update that came out yesterday supposedly "fixed" these issues... Again, was hoping that the 360 was going to be a good product, but it's looking like it might not me, and for ~$600 one would hope for more. Last edited by verruckt; 10-27-2015 at 10:50 AM.. |

I'll be interested in a new detector when I see reviews that consistently exclude problems, such as software / other functionality issues or hardware reliability, while highlighting major improvements in technology. Until then, I'm sticking with the 9500ix.

Do those things really work?
With all due respect, have there been cases where the detectors actually saved your bacon?
I had a detector about 10 years ago and it threw off so many false positives, and was so easily outsmarted by cops who turned their units on and off, that it was useless. I got tagged for 73 in a 45 zone one night, and pitched it into the woods while I was stopped on the side of the road. That was that. I'm considering getting another one, if they're effective. Thanks.

Cops here (Chicago suburbs) aren't too crafty, and just leave their in-car guns on all the time. The majority are Ka band, but a few towns still have some cars with K band units. No one uses X band anymore, so I have that entire band disabled. The new county cars have very strong Ka guns, and I can pick them up about a mile away. The detectors with GPS in them can lock out false signals, so if you always drive by a store with automatic doors that makes your detector go crazy, you can mute that location. If you drive on the highway a lot, most likely it's state police using laser, which a detector isn't going to help with too much (however, I have gotten a laser alert where the car in front of me got hit, and had time to slow down when I got tagged). For me, it's been absolutely worth it. |

Thanks, Dethsupp0rt. Good info.
The ultimate solution for all of this will be radar detectors that communicate with an app (we're already there), that then communicate back to your nav so it marks radar traps the same way it sees traffic jams... Can't wait for that.

What you have to accept is that there are a number of countermeasures at your disposal, none 100% effective and none without some kind of false warnings. But combining as many countermeasures as you can will greatly minimize your chances of getting a ticket. 1. Radar and laser detector 2. Laser jammer 3. Your eyes 4. Waze 5. A rabbit (the clueless person you followed who eventually provides you advanced warning of trouble) Last week I took a 600 mile round trip north. A friend was driving and I was monitoring waze. V1 was on the windshield, no jammer. We probably encountered 3 dozen officers on the way up and down (welcome to the northeast). Plenty of falses on the V1 and on waze and even a few instances where neither indicated a threat ahead. But there were quite a few instance where one or the other or both indicated something looming ahead and indeed that was the case. A radar detector isn't a magic pill, it's a tool. Use it correctly and it will help. Trust it implicitly without understanding its limitations and you'll be getting a ticket, in which case you would be better served not having it in the first place. |
