Enhanced Bluetooth Question

Does anyone know what the enhanced Bluetooth allows you to do for an iPhone? The M3 I am considering doesn't have it and I am trying to figure out what I may be giving up. Thanks.

For model year 2015 BMW has stripped Enhanced USB & Bluetooth plus Smartphone Integration (6NS) from the Technology Package (ZTP) and Navigation Option (609) making it a stand alone $500 purchase. The price of the Technology Package and Navigation Option remain the same, effectively increasing the price. BMW did make Bluetooth Streaming and the USB Audio connection (6NH) standard on all 3 and 4 series modes for MY 2015 so the need for Enhanced USB and Bluetooth (6NS) is diminished.

Functionality differences between BMW 6NH and 6NS



To summarize, without 6NS, you won't get:

• Library Browsing - Playlist, Artist, Genre via Bluetooth (still works via USB)
• Ability to connect 2 bluetooth phones simultaneously
• Additional Microphone - For improved communications
• iSpeech - Voice control for contacts and music
• Mobile Office - Text Messages, Email, Calendar, Tasks, Contact photos, Voice memos.
• Base plate in center console - for snap-in Adapter integration
• Connection to external antenna – For improved reception

For what its worth, i had it in my previous F30 335, didnt get it on my 2016 M3, no regrets, dont notice a difference. A few of the missing parts can be coded as well.

Also, one more thing the enhanced option gives you if 4g connection for updates instead of 3g.

My concern was I have an F10 M5 now and trading it for a 16 M3. I frequently send addresses to my M5 from google maps on my computer and then open it right into navigation so o don't have to input the address. I would rather not have to input a destination if I don't have to.

What can be coded? I will be coding the M3 as soon as I get the car. I had my M5 coded before it got wiped by a software update.

There is an app from Bmw that allows you to do that.

I don't have enhanced Bluetooth and can send map directions from Google maps to the car. You just have to have your email address that you set up with BMW.

still can't get emails to push from my iphone to idrive..

had everything coded..text messages push just find..calendar when the phone is plugged..but email still will not push...

Also, for MY2016 when you order Enhanced Bluetooth you get a 4G LTE telematics module (inside the shark fin) vs. 3G. This is helpful for OTA transmissions, like map updates.

Is there any way to add in the second mic and or lte? I know I would have to cut some holes and stuff but I would be willing. Just wondering if there is a harness for it or I can buy the parts

Pretty sure it's nearly impossible. You'd have to secure and activate the proper LTE SIM, in addition to the hardware elements. Doubtful BMW would be of any help with the SIM part.
