Sliding armrest eats fingers!
So since I've had my car I can't count how many times that damn armrest has slid down on my fingers when I open it. I'm at the point now that I just want to run a screw into that fucking thing. It also will slide back and forth when accelerating or braking. Of all the things about our car that armrest is the worst!
Who else has been victim to this? |

Haven't driven an F80 yet, but our Audi Q5 (the dd) has one, and it is possibly the WORST thing about the car. SO annoying, for the first 6 months with it, i wanted to just pump an entire tube of super glue into the sliding mechanism and lock it in place.

Yes! I've considered glue as well! I get why they added it, but there should have been a better lock for it.

Lol guys I have said this from the start! I have lost my will to help kids put in their belts because of this contraption from hell.
Normal morning used to go like this: Get kids in. Buckle them up. Go find wallet , return to car. Start the car. "mom I accidentally unbuckled myself" I'm lazy but flexible so I just bend over the arm test to put the belt back on, and while coming back for fucks sake every time I was screaming in pain. Then I spent hours explaining to the kids that they too can use the adults words they just heard as soon as they have their own sliding armrests. Repeat next day.

My best one was when it slid back with me, and then my pinky got under it while my whole weight was basically on top of it. I lost my shit completely.

Gees! Funny thing, when I first got the car I was looking to see if bmw had a normal replacement for it. I would really hate to put a screw in it, maybe I can try velcro.

I haven't seen any benefits on it sliding besides making my kids fluent in cuss words they don't use in two languages. German doesn't count as one sine on that I merely repeat what a hostel owner was screaming when he fell of a roof.

The first time it moved forward on me, let's just say I was going a little bit over the speed limit, and it really caught me by surprise. That was when I first got the car. Now it doesn't bother me at all. I know it is going to move.

Its rediculous! The worst for me is getting out of the car.... remembering something on passenger seat, or pass floor, lean in , place arm/elbow on armrest, it slides suddenly, i lose my balance and fall head first into car. So far, I've hit my head on shifter, slipped and fell on my ass, and my all time favorite, pull up to my office, a few of my employees standing outside smoking, and i slip and fall into the seats.... my feet flailing for a bit while i hopelessly regain my balance, but never reclaim my dignity. I'm going to go buy some two sided tape and try that.

Mine is stuck in one position until I move it myself. Maybe you should take it to dealer for replacement if she's that loose.

For what it is worth, I've never noticed mine move while driving or any other time unless I push on it, which has admittedly happened inadvertently a couple times from my elbow or forearm. |
