Annoying Rattle from backseat area. Could it be in the speakers?
Hi guys,
I’ve had my SO M4 now back in the states for about 6 months now and still absolutely love it after picking her up in April using ED. I have had absolutely no problems with the car. It still has reliatevly low miles (about 8500) so other than my initial breaking in maintenance I have had no need to go by a dealership. However, that may have to change. About a week or so ago I started hearing this annoying tingy rattle from what sounds like the rear passenger seat area. It occurs when getting up to highway speeds only, possibly even from the speakers in the side panel. But doesn't seem to be tied to bumps on the road. Today I thought I heard the same sound from the rear deck speakers too. It seems most prevalent when I am listening to talk radio on AM (yea I know AM, but I gotta listen to my local sports station on my undefeated Panthers!). But when I turn the volume down I still hear it. Of course that could be a mute point (literally) if sound is always coming out of them for the exhaust notes … This weekend I am going to get my wife to drive it while I sit in the back to see if I can pin point the source. I have seen other posts talk about rattles in the past. Does this sound like one of the common ones? Regardless, any advice on how I can get the dealer to first “take note” of the sound and come up with a solution to fix it under warranty?

My rear driver's side speaker rattles when I'm on bumpy roads. My wife sat back there and put her had on it - the rattle went away.
I'm planning on dealing with it eventually. Thankfully it isn't so bad.

Mine had a rattle in the rear deck and it turned out it was missing one of the screws to hold a speaker in place. They had to special order the screw but the rattle is now gone.

My rattle in the rear can be stopped by lightly holding the brake pedal, which makes it a pad noise issue. Try it.. I'm not worried about it if it's pads though. I've tried it on two f8x cars now and it made the sound go away, both times with brake pedals slightly depressed.

I have a funny vibration with some specific songs. The Black Keys in particular "Weighted Love" vibrates the whole rear. I am taking it in to see if there is something up.

I've got a rear seat area rattle over course pavement only. Have not diagnosed as yet.
