Best thing to know is what you told the SA to allow him/her to write up the work order to get it to qualify for a dealer covered software upgrade freebie. - Thanks!

If they update you all your coding is gone. So are all of you settings except for the Homelink and Seat memory.

Oh, don't get me wrong, if Öhlins comes out with the rumored "Adaptive Compatible" set, I'm in.

1: I have not asked yet. My SA *was* Rob, but due to the dealership showroom expanding and a few other things, he was moved to take care of a few BMW clients out of the Mini dealership in Exton. M-customers remained at Otto's main service department. My SA is now Kevin, but i've had a few good conversations with him. So I feel comfortable bringing this up to him when the time is right. I haven't done it yet, my inspection isn't due until next month. 2: I will absolutely let you know, SHOULD I decide to get the update based on point 3 below: 3: It absolutely WILL wipe all my coding out. And it is a significant amount of coding that I did. The LED's, after much experimenting are perfect, and took a bunch of coding and a fair amount of time and testing to get where I like them. Due to this, i'm not sure I want the update.

Can you post a picture of the old vs new HUD? I haven't seen the new one to know which is old vs new.

I dont have pictures but the old one has a grey tac and the speed limit info is a white box. New one has a blue tac and the speed limit info is a circle outlined in red I believe.

I'll be contacting my SA on Monday and seeing if I can schedule this update. Just tell him the TC cuts power completely and I have some rough shifts some times. throw in a I've had idrive freeze a few times. Should be good. I won't mind recoding everything. My LED coding was pretty simple, just changed the speeds they activate at. |

I know a couple of good SAs at both. But, I bought this one at 'Tonka and somewhat prefer bringing it there. I just have to get off my ass and do it. It is kind of pain as it is a two night process to drop off and pick up. I live 40 minutes north of the cities so it is a long drive from either. And as you know it seems like every road in town is under construction.

Would be nice if someone had a pre flash and compare with a flashed one at the same time. Otherwise I have a hard time believing these reviews.
My car is coded with euro mdm which I find pretty good at keeping the traction lights at bay.

FYI, in the original thread in m3cutters, only three ECUs were flashed: DME, DSC & ICM. For those that don't want to loose their coding, a non-dealer route is an option, DIY or get it done as those three ECUs are rarely or never coded (except for EuroMDM/DSC).

If you think about it from a logical POV, there is no way it could be just software. We are talking about new calibration settings that the computer doesn't know exist yet. I'm sure it's also a lot of code that was changed too. But, I know little (ok, none) about coding and how it's done, so I guess maybe, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Yes you can. The issue a lot of us have is we don't have battery power supplys to insure adequate voltage when flashing. But it seems like everyone from the m3cutters post didn't have one when getting it flashed by the one "Adam" dude. Flash at your own risk.
