This forum will sure be quiet once you're gone.

I love the idea of the Jag, never driven one, wanted to get one just for the noises before the M, but the M got me first. Let us know how it is.

lol, I've given up facebook and instagram, so I gotta get my social media fix somewhere

lots of cool people on bimmerpost with interesting opinions and knowledge bases. like that whole thread on some dude doing his patio with pizza oven is super cool lol.

anyways, the M got me first as well. and after driving the f-type, I am kind of happy it did. Maybe if the price points become equivalent to my f80; ill make the jump. This jaguar dealership was pretty shoddy compared to BMW, but it seems them have listened to the market as well, with a bunch of SUVs and sedans. The british racing green f type-r with brown seats on the showroom floor tho will make any car person giddy. I'll likely have to let the car sit for a while before they move on the price. So likely april is when I can make a move; sadly itll be gone by then.

I would say they are into maintaining the self image that they have money

If you are into money, you drive a fully depreciated random whatever and you put the money to work for you, instead of having a $50k+ car

my $0.02, I like 911 better than Jaguar but go with what you want.

It's your life man, and if you can cash pay it, sell the M3 and get your next car.

Life's too short, and do your best with balancing car ADD and long term financial goals but don't overthink it

Edit: f type r 122mph ish trap is close to f80 119mph ish trap. Probably won't notice a difference in performance that will make you go OH sH1t in a straight line. Need to get a 130mph+ trap car for that...

totally agree, the jag just didn't blow me away enough. to go pissing my money down the drain. I am just learning about trap speeds and how they are better indicators how fast a car really "feels"

I have driven the F-Type. Considering how thin I am and it is still extremely uncomfortable even to sit in. I can't even imagine how it is for people bigger, heavier than me.

V8 is overrated. Anything V8 is like the default internet comment now a days.

Agreed on both. You may like the rumored 2020 GT350. They say they are going to use the GT500s block and it'll make around 575 N/A power. A bit under what you are looking for, but close. I'm curious if they are going to stick with the FPC or go CPC on it.

Some people only like boost and that is ok to.

I'd go this Jag over an R8. R8s look really cool, but sound kind of boring to drive (AWD/Auto).

Edit: Oops looks like you can get them in RWD at least.

the weight though is like 3700lb right? I would like that 550+whp in a 3200lb w/ driver package for my next car.

4000+ lb for f type is somewhat laughable to me. "Sports car" with "SUV" weight. Lol.

Yah that is why I was saying I thought it was getting close HP wise at least. They are heavy like most everything nowadays.

Who needs aero when you have plenty of weight as down force?

I think both cars serve a purpose;

Lots of people can't notice driving dynamics and feel of a car; little things....the ftype is for them...I like to tell myself that these things don't matter; but when I drive something else for a while; the M will always just feel special.

My cousin has a 458 and dailies an M4 and says they are both fun in their own ways.

Never been a big fan on the R8; that look by Audi got played out real quick for some reason; I know I'm the minority here. Now the B8 S5

That's the key.

I'm not trying to suggest f type isn't a good car, it just doesn't tick the boxes of what I person look for when evaluating something with the price and shape and engine power that suggests it's an pure sports car

Have both a rwd v8 coupe and f80 comp

2 different cars imo, the jag is more of a sporty gt car, whereas f80 is a more compromised sports sedan

The jag is better damped, even compared to my f80 on tractive shocks, has less nvh overall, and the trans is a lot smoother than the dct - jag do one of the best programming of the zf8 in the f type compared to other cars I've driven/have with it

You can't replicate that long bonnet sitting low over rear wheels feel of the f type in an m4, and with all that torque off idle, it makes driving the rwd such a fun challenge of managing wheel spin. The awd to me really removes a big chunk of the fun factor, in rwd form it's a refined muscle car

The sound of that v8 though is unlike anything the germans are producing these days, there's just something about not having turbos muffling the sound

The f type is heavily dependent on spec imo, it can either feel like a cheap or expensive car inside. When I built mine, I ticked all the boxes including the ceramics, so I have full leather dash, alcantara roof lining, carbon console, flat bottom heated wheel etc

The biggest issue with the f type compared to my fully optioned f80 is the lack of tech, there's no hud, the infotainment is very last gen, there's no 360 camera, but you do get blind spot and cross traffic alert - well I optioned it at least. The current cars do get jags new 10" widescreen but trying to integrate it into the older canbus means it misses out on some things like voice recognition, though I think you can get around that with CarPlay

It's fast enough to me, the fact I can light up the tyres in the first 3 gears means it probably doesn't need more power lol. I sold my 800wheel hp r35 to fund my f type and I always make comment that it feels faster corner to corner than my gtr did, the main reason being with the supercharger you get no lag, it's instant torque and acceleration vs having to wait for my larger turbos to spool up. The f80 is arguably one of the most throttle responsive turbo engines, but you can still notice the difference in response

Cliffs: it's just a fun car to drive, but you need the rwd

Reliability is another point

Make a decision on how the car makes you feel

Fun fact my jag has been 100% trouble free, no mechanical issues, not even the slightest hint of an interior rattle, nor even a squeak from the ccb's, and I hill run my cars well

I've gone through 4 German daily's in last 3 years I've had it and every single one has had rattles and mechanical issues

Maybe I just got lucky
