My must have options were:

Manual
CF roof
18 inch wheels (In my opinion, only the 763m wheels look better, but weren't available at time of order)
cloth seats
HK stereo

Fortunately for me, every single one of these features were included in base price or no cost options on my '17 M3 . I would have paid for any of the above features had they not already been included. I think the only thing I would have liked is an iDrive delete if it was possible. I don't even use it. Kinda miss the old days of a flat dash and simple stereo/HVAC controls on the center console like my 2001 X5 had.

I could have splurged on an individual color, but getting a M3 with an out the door price of ~65k was way too enticing, and in my mind is a fair price for what you're getting. I wouldn't even have considered this car at 75k+, let alone how close to 100k some of these get optioned. My salesman was not too thrilled when they approved the order

Lighting pkg
Executive pkg simply for the HUD.
I've gotten used to the HUD and really appreciate not having to take my eyes off the road, even for a moment.

Both my F80 and F85 are fully loaded, my F80 doesn't have the CCBs. The only option I really really love is the top view camera. It is one of those things that makes everything so easy for me. I am the guy that has to perfectly park in the parking spot and top view camera is super helpful for my OCD. Everything else for me is nice to have and I can live without them. Bang & Olufsen, full leather, HUD, sunroof or carbon fiber roof, auto rear sunshade, LED lights etc I know I am weird.

Knew exactly what I wanted and found a low mileage example spec'd perfectly...

DCT
BSM
Sun Roof
All packages except driver assist and CCB

I do not track my car. I daily drive ~30 min each way in rush hour and joy ride when possible. For my use, DCT made more sense than 6MT and sunroof made more sense than carbon fiber roof. Additionally, the driver assistance features don't really do much for me personally, so I would rather save the money and have the additional storage space.

This is the best car I've ever owned and I have no regrets.

everything else came standard: harmon stereo, nav, one year free sat radio, 4 years/48k maintenance
after 2.5 years no regrets, i shall buy it out of lease it's that good a car!

ZCP was the only "must" have for me. Ended up getting a ZCP stripper and it's really great - it's very nicely loaded in base trim as it is. I have no interest in all the extra fluff.

PSA: Manual is neither a package, nor an option. It is standard equipment. DCT is the option. Same with CF roof vs. moon roof.

I ordered my car to spec, and Exec Pkg, SM2 paint, and black extended leather were the primary requirements for me. I ended up adding the black 19" wheels and a couple of other small options before the car went into production status (which happened 10 days after order placement) but they weren't deal-breakers had the car entered production early.

My must have's were: Executive, Lighting, driver assist, full leather, active suspension, CF roof, 19s and dct. Once you see a car with full leather, you won't be able to get one without it.

The full leather makes the car IMO. If this car only came in a manual I would've still gotten it, so by default doesn't make the DCT a must have. I like creature comforts, so executive package. This is standard on a lot of cars so I considered it a must have. Lighting too, must have.

A lot of you rave about the rear sunshade. Had on on the E92 and never used it, so didn't get one. Don't miss it. Different strokes.

Completely agree on the full leather. The first thing I notice when I get in any of the entry level "luxury" cars is the fake leather grain textured plastic covering the entire dash and doors.

I really wanted the basic black leather but ended up going full stripper, which meant cloth. While I wasn't crazy about it at first it's grown on me in a huge way to the point that I think it almost makes the car.

It's sporty, handsome and suites the all-business attitude of the car. In other words, while I would certainly not mind full leather, the cloth gives the car a very 'purist' feel. It's clean and simple and not trying to be luxurious, which the F80 is not.

As for creature comforts in the Exec - what actual 'comfort' items did this include? Heated steering wheel, I assume?

Honestly don't remember what the packages were, but things like keyless entry, the heated wheel, seats. I guess I could rephrase my statement and say I like loaded cars.

Yes, but the 6MT crowd likes to talk about how they chose it at every opportunity.
