Just tried my hand on this and no dice for MY18 M4 with the LEDs.

I'm seeing the dash fog light icon illumination but no change in rear tails/fogs unfortunately.

You also need to code REM (MAPPING_NEBELSCHLUSSL_L_OUTPUT for left rear fog light) and FEM_BODY (NSL_VERBAUT). Works fine on MY18.

Appreciate that but I did go ahead and double check the coding and I do have everything coded as previously mentioned. Would the werte settings play a factor?

MAPPING_NEBELSCHLUSSL_L_OUTPUT in REM should be coded to “1C” and NSL_VERBAUT in FEM_BODY to “verbaut”.

I used Bimmercode to code mine on my MY18 M3. Everything worked great. I installed the euro switch from ECS and only activated the left side rear fog. Only took about 15 minutes for total installation.

I plan to pull the switch during one of the upcoming weekends in July and see what I learn but it would be nice to have a head start. I'll share some pictures of this if it works....if the light color matches the headlights this is going to look stock because the lights perfectly follow the body contour and are consistent with the headlight elements. I love modifications that look like they came from the factory - hopefully this will be a tasteful addition to the car. If it looks hokey, I'll just take them off.

Thanks,

DD, I don't know much about this as I am learning myself but as I have it understood since the M3/M4 doesn't have front fog lights couldn't you just take the output from the light module that would usually go to the front fogs in the F30/F32 and just use that to turn your LEDs off and on instead of messing with the actual switch? I think the module is still there it probably just has those pins empty.

Just a thought.

Thanks to all. I just coded the rear fogs on my MY18 M3! It was a breeze with BimmerCode.

I went the full route with Euro Switch/coding when the original pre-LCI tails were installed & they worked great - very useful when used correctly. I drive very early for work & quite frequently there is fog so dense you can't see more than 10ft in front of you - these keep the drivers behind you aware that there is a car present BEFORE they come crashing in to you from the rear...

After the LCI Tail retrofit = nothing

Dash icon still lights but no action from tails

Apparently the LCI lights do not have a corresponding bulb/LED that can be activated by rear fogs as the pre-LCI do. Since F82 tails are same as F32 I would assume same condition would apply

I love the 'lava flowing' look of the rear tails, but unhappy about losing the rear fogs

If anyone can prove me wrong I would be happy to know
I have this problem too on my 2015 M4.

Are you sure it’s a bulb in the LCI tails? Is this confirmed?

The only reason I question it, is why would they include the rear fogs only on the euro spec LCI lights, when the pre-LCI OEM NA tails was just a coding issue? If anything it was a mass production and logistical problem, hence the standard assembly.

You’d think the mentality would continue through the LCI as well, no?

I spoke to a guy who said that the LCI lights might not read properly in the REM due to a potentially dated firmware in that module, compared to the LCI models.

I’m the last person that would know anything about this.

I assume this car is NA spec with OEM tails, and all that was required was a code?

Yes, my 2018 M3 has OEM tail lights. I don't think the fogs lights are as bright as European fog lights

I have a MY18 and did the above coding but still not able to get light up. Sigh

Anybody knows why and have a solution?

Rockshaker and other Bimmercode guys: did you do it in Expert Mode?

Thanks!

Yes,

You'll find it in the REM & FEM Modules under Expert Mode. Change the parameters listed below.

REM Module

REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_L_output (Value = nsl_l)
REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_R_output (Value = nsl_r)

FEM_BODY
3060 NSL_Verbaut: verbaut

Thanks! Since I haven't previously used the Expert mode, I was a little nervous, but I did the coding and everything seems to be working properly. It was quite straightforward. I also coded the front fog light button (turns on headlights and goes to adverse weather mode).

Thanks again!

What codes did you change to enable this? What's adverse weather mode?

In the variable light modes, adverse weather are the light configurations meant for fog or rain. Without euro light coding it probably won't make much difference. See this thread for more info:

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1218115

Here is the coding to enable the front fog switch.

FEM_BODY > LCE_BEL_LIN_VAR = BEL_FLC_NSW_NSL
FEM_BODY > NSW_VERBAUT = Verbaut

I did it for more of a gimmick for now. Good luck!

Anyone do this DIY, but instead of coding it for the fog lights, you coded it or tapped into the break lights? Kind of off topic but this seems like a good thread to branch off other possibilities for the 2 "empty" fog toggle switches.

Anyone have a clue how rear fogs can be activated with the OLED rear light clusters, if at all?

FEM -> 3060 -> NSL_Verbaut (Value= Verbaut)

REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_L_output (Value = 0x20)

REM -> 3063 -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_R_output (Value = 0x21)

This works, but it uses the outer fog light as the rear fog light.
