UPDATED: E9X Carbon Fiber Inspired Interior

Been working on a little project since taking delivery of my ZCP. I've never been a fan of the glossy carbon fiber that comes standard in the 2015+ F8X. For the most part it's okay, but I felt that the ZCP needed something a little more unique and in line with it's character.

With that said, I wanted to give you all a sneak peek of what I've been working on. I'll have more pics of the install/interior once this Pacific Northwest rain clears up. In the mean time, here we go...

UPDATED:

Included some new pics of the carbon fiber center console trim wrapped in XPEL Stealth and Alcantara fabric. More pics to come once I've had a chance to install everything.

Nice... I've always preferred the dry carbon look myself

This I like.

However, I think leaving the area around the knobs and the trim surround uncovered would give it a bit more of a finished look.

Just my .02.

I miss the carbon leather trim on my E92. I like this, however I would've kept the events untouched. The trim itself looks great. Is it wrap or true dry carbon?

You wrapped your *REAL carbon fiber with 3M Dinoc...

Personally I'm not a fan, and it also looks like you did it yourself.

Why not have your CF trim sprayed with a matte clear or wrapped with XPEL stealth as already mentioned?

Personally I'm not a fan of the OEM CF. I only tried this since I have a lot of vinyl laying around. Thanks for your input.

I'm experimenting with both options (carbon vs. non-carbon for the vent housing. The vents themselves are unwrapped.

That's next on my list to try out. I've got some extra pieces that I'm going to lay on the trim and roof to see what it looks like.

Bravo. Whether people like it or not, it's cool to see people doing different things with the interior!

Looks great! Much better than the gloss for sure. I agree with keeping the sides of the vents unwrapped.

Thanks! I plan on trying that tomorrow after a full Gtechniq application to the interior.

Im interested to see how your matte clear wrap goes. It would give the best of both worlds:
1. get rid of the gloss in the car
2. still have depth and a truly individual look to the interior.

In for pics!

So it now has the cheap look and feel of a Hyundai...

Any boy racer can stick a fake cf sticker on their plastic dash. BMW gave us real CF... I don't get it. But enjoy if that's your thing. Love the Laguna Seca color though.

Save it until you have actually worked on your own car. If you had any sense, you would know the BMW carbon fiber trim is just a laminate over standard 3 series parts. Not too far from vinyl wrap. It's not like BMW constructed the whole piece out of CF. So until you have something valuable to contribute, you've got NOTHING.

I posted a few quick snaps of the XPEL Stealth and Alcantara center console pieces. Personally I'm liking the Alcantara (al la GTS inspired) vs. the carbon fiber Stealth wrap. I know the carbon fiber center console trim is "motorsport inspired", but it still feels kinda out-of-place on a street car. More pics to come!
