You want to go with the reputable shops like OSS, Bayoptics, or OneEighty because if they are cut incorrectly it will damage the lens and if not sealed properly you will have leaks and your headlights will develop condensation and need to be thrown-out then you’ll waste all that labor removing your front bumper and replacing the headlights

I was planning to use Evil Headlights in Norwalk, price is very reasonable and they have a lot of experience.

Get a spare set and do it yourself. Crack them open, remove all pieces needing paint, then send off to your body shop. There is really no other retrofit work if you are otherwise keeping stock rings.

I was considering doing that, but found out its so inexpensive to have someone with experience do it haha.

Very nice. Out of curiosity what are shops charging to do that service on F series headlights?

Spare set would be 1000 or more? Downtime to send to paint shop, have them sent back, time spent breaking apart lights, chances of screwing things up doing so, etc. would be far less practical/economical than dropping off at shop which costs between 4 to 6 hundred with two to three days downtime.

My chance of “screwing things up” exactly ZERO

ZERO days downtime due to working with a spare set.

$1000 not a sunk cost, because in two years when time to sell car they will very easily sell in the FS section on here.

When you want to go back to stock, and have a spare set to easily revert car to stock form....PRICELESS!

Well you have experience. I’m positive this would take me more then 3-4 hours which makes it not worth my time lol.

True...for people who have 100 percent confidence in their own ability to open and seal headlights along with 1000 laying around, your route would be a good option 👍

Ive done the blackout procedure myself on a few cars before. Here's my 2 cents.

1. Did it come out good? Yes. they came out great.

2. Was it hard? No, It just took much longer then I expected. Pretty much the whole day and into the night. That was a PITFA.

So, this time around. I'm having it done at evil headlights. I'll report back once i get them done. I don't want to go through the hassle again.
