Jason doesn't work for BMW. He's just the messenger here guys, let's not blame the messenger. And let's also remember he's very busy and was focused on getting the latest info to us as quick as possible rather than scrutinizing every word.

To me eye, the process worked. Jason posted information here for the enthusiast community to evaluate, and we've piped up and pointed out some flaws.

It happens. We'll get the real info soon, including the answers to these and other outstanding questions:

a) Navigation is truly standard in US or no?
b) M Dynamic Dampening Control (MDDC) is truly standard in US or no?
c) Alcantara headliner? (Almost no chance its true, but we'll get confirmation)
d) Full Leather available? (Almost surely "yes")
e) 10.2" IDrive screen (Almost surely "no")
f) 20 way power seats (NO)

It's $550 on the 3/4, so that'd be my guess.

Possible it's standard and included in the base price already (meaning Alpine White buyers subsidize everyone else), but I somewhat doubt that.

What is the difference between these two things?
I think "M Dynamic Damper Control" must mean driver adjustable dampers.
"Adaptive M Suspension" denotes semi-active dampers, meaning you can adjust the damping, but it's continuously adapting depending on which setting you're in.

Nav isn't for everyone, and it is a pricey item to include as standard when mobile phones do the same thing.

Metallic paint was a no cost option in Canada on the E46 and E9X. They are now charging $895 CAD for it on the F8X.

The way I see it, you essentially get a rebate for ordering white, since all other color offerings are metallic

I do not think that these "M Dynamic Dampers" are even real as they were not mentioned even in the official introduction, only M Adaptive Suspension.

Otherwise this is some jacked up price not comparable at all with any other BMW model in the last 5 years.
Well my 2013 E92 M3 based right at $60K, it didn't include nav. In my eyes removing the GG tax means its under $2k as far as an increase. Not to shabby in my eyes for an all new model.

The issue for me is the sound of the car, I still think it sounds like ass. I have 2.5 years left in my E92 I will see what the aftermarket will do as far as exhausts will procure.

BTW big guy...you still make your hifi harness?

also, I will admit that the pricing isn't out for the m3 in Germany yet. however, every single place that the pricing IS out, nav has been included. in places like the UK and Belgium the cars come standard with 19s, adaptive suspension and leather instead of the cloth/leather

color me surprised if this changes in Germany.
Taxes may be a reason in certain countries, especially if they have luxury taxes or similar taxes. But for example, Switzerland has only 8% taxes (but no luxury taxes), which isn't that much. A good loaded M3 will cost about 120-125k $, which is a lot more than in the US (other countries with higher taxes even more, some of them much more). Don't get me wrong, this isn't the fault of you US citizens, but it is very annoying when we see that BMW surely generates profit even with the US prices, then we can imagine what kind of profit margins they get here with us.

And as another user already wrote, in Germany is neither Navi professional nor leather upholstery or the 19 inch wheels standard.

These guides are directly from BMW. They're not something I or anyone at BIMMERPOST put together. It wouldn't be the first time that official document/info has mistakes.

And I don't work for BMW.

my mistake then

any thoughts on why some of the things seem to not be correct? like the size of the nav screen and the alcantara headliner? or the confusion on the dynamic suspension?

thanks.

While we are all anxious to see the pricing guides, these are helping us with our orders. Don't shoot the messenger.

Message to all - just relax and wait for the guides. This forum is great in getting us information as it's released. It is not like we can get our M cars tomorrow.

I don't know why everyone acts as if they don't know how much it's going to cost. Just look at the Canadian and UK prices and the military sale and you can get a pretty close idea.

Thanks for clarifying Jason. We all know you bring us some amazing info and this isn't your fault!

It's comical at this point to see the mistakes that BMW is making on basic information about this car. From the very corporate sales pitch introduction of the car in Detroit, the misprinted information, to the mystery behind why BMW USA can't even update their website. It's unfortunate that BMW is handling the intro of this car so poorly because I believe they're working with a great product that their engineering department put together but marketing is "fumbling on the 1 yard line".

I don't think this is really much different than the launch of the last iteration in '07/08.

Unfortunately, yes. This is nothing new, and it is not a phenomena that is limited just to M product launches either.

Agree that he configurator is overdue, but those are often buggy and error-laden at launch as well.

What we really need are the ordering guide and pricing guide which are coming soon. Those are usually very accurate.

Nav is standard equipment, this is an absolute fact. The wheels are forged as well, another fact. Another cool thing is that the standard steering wheel is Magnesium.
