another cool set of 'ring crashes with a few nice saves
Here's a great screen grab of a frame being bent: No more crinkle ... visible: If you watch the video the guy is wearing cargo shorts so you know he's going to try to fix it. In a related story, it's amazing how slow you can be going and still manage to tear off your entire front wheel assembly and send it rolling down the road without the rest of your car.

Hi friends.
I am jonesin hard for a fun car. I have not had a true weekender in almost 2 years now. I keep trying to fill the gap with multi purpose cars and its just not working. With a new baby on the way I am trying to keep it to a reasonable cost and I keep running into OG M2s for about $37-40k. Seems like the best value out there. Now is where I need your opinions. Am I crazy at 6’7” with a baby on the way if I buy an M2? Am I going to regret not spending $8-10k more on an M2C? The only other two cars on my “list” right now are a Mustang GT PP2 and a Camaro SS 1LE. I could buy them new cheaper than a used M2C and just a few grand more than an OG M2. 6mt is a hard requirement for this vehicle. Last edited by dmk08; 11-16-2020 at 05:23 AM.. |

Yeah, let's let SSOTT become a revolutionary breaking news site!
Tough questions with different answers for each of us obvs - for me/us, yeah, you're crazy. First, babbling: I'm not a saver by nature, but my wife is and over the years has helped me see the light ... To be motivated, I need concepts packaged into powerful-to-me notions or it doesn't work. The thing my wife told me almost 20 years ago was, "Savings today is future spending multiplied" - and boy is that true. The human mind can't understand exponential growth like compound interest so spending today always seems so much better than saving ... but when you flip it around and think of retiring (or, better, having the optionality of not needing work-based income), and look at something like FireCalc.com you can quickly and easily see more/less where you are. The other thing with work is, most people have this future notion in their head that they'll just work until whenever. I did. Unfortunately by the time I turned 45 I realized, eh, that's not that cool; I'd rather do work I *want* to do and the notion of 20 more years of work I don't want to do seems ... not fun. So the bottom line is, I'm really glad that 20 years ago my wife convinced me of the power of compound interest - it doesn't mean ramen but it does mean being very thoughtful and examining your emotions around every expense. So I'd say if you've gone two years, you can go 5 and reassess; or, as lemetier said, maybe get something cheap, and maybe something you have to wrench on - that can be twice as rewarding. |

I don’t trust Ford anymore so I’d be out on any Mustang anymore including the Shelbys. The BS I’m reading about that people are going through with the GT500s doesn’t surprise me at all. I’d be all over a SS 1LE, I just don’t see you fitting in it very well and putting up with the cramped cockpit for too long. Don’t laugh, but have you looked at a used VW R or something like that? Or maybe a used C7 if it is a true weekend car. Charger Hellcat? Hard to think of what would be fun in that range you (or I) haven’t tried. I think I’m finally going to do the P car next year and order a 6MT Cayman GTS 4.0. I’m so afraid of being disappointed with it though and then just going back to something like a SS 1LE for over half the price. Good to still have first world issues. |

The Mustang I am fine with a GT cause I dont worry about the 350 due to the problems I read about. I had no idea the 500s are having issues too?? |

Yup, mostly major build quality and QC issues. But, some mechanical/engine/DCT stuff as well. After of course waiting forever for their order and usually paying very large ADM for the pleasure. Check out M6G.

Kinda scary considering I have one of the first 100 2021 Broncos reserved. It may be a huge first year POS.

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/thr...issues.149135/ I'd be very leery of buying a Ford period, but no way I'd buy a first year one that's for sure. Assuming the dealer doesn't try and screw you at delivery with a huge ADM surprise either or just sell it to someone else for more. Check this fiasco out with the new Explorers. This is one of many articles just dealing with one model. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/09/16/...gLs3aFtEMI8DYJ |

It seems like right now is a horrible time for automakers except Tesla - a combination of covid shutdowns & supply chain issues combined with shifting strategy for mev/phev/bev is wreaking havoc internally.
Seems like nobody can decide who they want to be in 5 years, therefore their product lines are stalled or wildly swinging, and in the meantime execs are leaving or being fired. Crazy times. |
