2014 or 2015 M4 for launch? Need advice On ED purchase

So car magazines are all saying 2015 model. Latest post from Jason talks of 2015 M4 for Gran Turismo game to be released soon. Yet others are certain it will be 2014. Which is it????

My concern is wanting to do an ED and not being able to go until June. The car would not arrive in US until mid August and there goes my summer season with no sports car. The dagger is that by the time the car gets to me. The next model year will start in 2 months with ZCP and there goes my first year value nosedive with barely anytime to enjoy and no ZCP. I will not be happy and hope BMW recognizes this issue. What am I to do?? Ugh

We don't know but I have bought two cars with release in early summer just as the M4 and both were of the next year MY. One was an LCI 2008 E60, I ordered it in March 2007 and picked it up in Munich June 2007 as a 2008 MY. The other was a 2011 F10 that I ordered in April 2010 and picked up in July 2010. I would be very surprised if there is a 2014 MY M4 in the US. Europe might be different.

Regarding ZCP and LCI for the M4 my guess is that we get at least 2 years before that happens. But again noone knows. I would not order a 2014 MY if the first deliveries against the odds are 2014s but I couldn't care less about LCI and ZCP at this stage. They are coming but not nearly in time for my next car and when they are coming there will likely be the Porsche Pajun as well, a car I'm awaiting more than an LCI ZCP M3/M4. Now, the rumoured CSL with a weight of ~3000 lbs is a different story if it kept below $100k.

Release in 2014 as a 2015 model (in the US).

Unfortunately, your guess at the delivery schedule is accurate.

ZCP is not worth waiting for. And LCI is especially not worth waiting for.

You wanted to be one of the first to get it in our area, as do I. I am still excited about this car and am not worried about the ZCP nosediving the value of the car. I will enjoy the end of the summer and fall with it immensely!!! I also like that there is no '14 model and it will come out as a '15

Thanks for confirmation Jason! As a 2015 model I can deal with a summer delivery. Now the final question is do I want an US dealer delivery for a good chunk of summer fun with the "IT" car of 2014 or fulfill my goal of a first ever ED in June and wait 6 painful weeks at best when I can I have it back. Will have to sleep on that one.

I totally agree with you. A 2015 confirmed by Jason I can deal with. If I was that anxious to get the first one I would have taken dealer offer to buy launch car but held out hoping to see some other options and exact pricing on CCB. All I know is that AW/sakhir interior, black wheels is definite. I noticed we live close to each other so look forward to meeting up once we have our new rides for some cruising with others. The way I see it an ED would save me some serious loot then the CCB splurge is not so bad. I expect around $6500 for option but will see.

your crazy not to do the European delivery. so what if you don't have the car in part of the summer.

you will regret not doing the euro trip in the long road, maybe not regret right away. its a great memory to have.

I'm looking at a late July ED if I get a chance to drive the car prior to closing the order.
