I was looking for a decent DIY to install OLED's on my M4. While I did find plenty of info on them, I couldn't find anything DIY related. So my Friend Bradley (@purefthirty) decided to put a little something together. The coding will be done remotely in a few days.
I ordered the wiring harness for the new OLED tails from IND and got the OLED's from @Gixxerboyf83 (forum member.) |

Under comp and collision, your Insurance Company basis the rates of the total value based on your VIN. So, if you make changes you are supposed to report those and pay an extra premium for those parts. I pay about $150 a year for around $20k of modifications from a major insurance agency. Bottom line. No matter what some people think, their Insurance Company is only required to pay what owner has insured, based on the VIN. Depending on how much they dug into it on a $8000 pair of taillights, they might not even think twice as they are OEM. But they would be well within their right to deny as it's not actually covered. Why do you think you read threads where the Insurance Company allows people to take off aftermarket parts from their totaled car? It's because those parts are legally not covered by the Insurance Company. Sometimes your Homeowners will cover under that policy. If your homeowners and automobile is from same carrier, they are more likely to pay if you did not have a rider for the extra parts. Many would assume they were covered but it was actually their Homeowners Coverage. |

Just stumbled on this thread. It does not seem like the CS/GTS OLED taillights are a straight plug and play. One giveaway is the the turn signal portion on the inner taillight is not active. It is also not clear in the video if you get the OLED "animation" when the lights are turned on.

Funny you say that. While I don't "pause", I do regularly find myself unlocking the car from far away just to enjoy the light show

@M4_Ronin did you order new drip rails that sit flush against the outer taillights? If so, do you remember the part number? Also, did you have to run an extra wire for each outer taillight in order to get the animation to work? I just installed mine and found out the LCI drip rails don't sit flush against the edge of the outer taillights. About to get the coding done and I was advised that I needed to run an extra wire from each outer taillight connectors to the plug so that the animation can work. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I was told I need a harness for the outer lights if I want the start up animation to work. Anyone know the part number??

I just got my set of OEM GTS OLED's and I have a 19' LCI, I just need some help with properly coding these? Can anyone help with the assist? or Can I do this through Bimmercode myself? or Is there someone you can recommend to help me do this? Thank you! |
