Question about rear 763M on an M4

Hello All,

I am in need of new tires and was wondering if you all can tell me what is the widest tire I can put on the 20" rear 763M wheel, without rubbing or the need of a spacer.

Right now the tire is the 285/30ZR20 Pilot Sport Cup 2

Thank you!

Most people do the 295/30/20 on that wheel.

In Australia, a 285 is the widest tyre you can legally fit on a 10" wheel unless it's an OEM fitment like an F10 M5 had a 295 on a 10" wheel.

Geez, first I read about no wheel spacers, now dictating what tires can be put on which wheels? Talk about over-regulation. Australia sounds miserable for car enthusiasts (I could be wrong ).

The cops look at tyre placards in Australia and check for wheel spacers if you go too radical with tyre width and poke. I put a CS tyre placard on my M4 ZCP showing the 19/20" wheels after fitting 763M's. The basic law is wheel diameters are supposed to be the same front and rear and if you can't show them a staggered setup is an OEM fitment, they can give you a fine and work order on the car.

Thank you for the information. I can't imagine getting fined because the wheels and tires I've put on my car are not OEM. Unless they are a hazard.

Aftermarket wheels are ok, it's the sizes that matter. If the car doesn't have an OEM 10" wide rear wheel option, you can't put 10's on the back if the OEM maximum is 8".
