ED airport to BMW Welt/Hotel Transportation
Just arrived in Munich for my ED. Just wanted to give fellow future EDers a great option for getting to the Welt or to their hotels from the airport.
I used Rolf's VIP pickup service, who is a retired BMW employee that does transportation services for BMW ED clients now. If you search his name, Rolf, and bimmerfest on google, you'd find tons of glowing reviews for him. Of course, there are a few ways to get to BMW welt or your hotel from the airport either by s-bahn, or taxi. However, Rolf actually gives you local insight into Munich. Before setting off, he sits us down at the airport and goes over what he recommends to see and do. How to ride the local transit system, driving tips, etc. Instead of a straight autobahn drive from the airport to our hotel, he took us on a scenic route to our hotel(don't worry, he charges a flat rate, unlike a taxi). Anyways, I think it's a great way to start an ED. Don't want to make this sound like advertising, But it's like having an old friend picking you up at the airport. PM me if anyone wants his contact info, or just google "Rolf" and "bimmerfest". |

You know BMW is providing free "limo" service from the airport to Welt or a hotel right? It is a recent program through sixt and the use a 5, 7 series or an S class. Reservation info should be at the end of the ED confirmation email.

In any case, whether or not there is a free limo available or not, I will still go with Rolf in future EDs because of the personal touch and attention. |

Just booked our itinerary for our ED. A couple of interesting stops. We are going to do the Stevio Pass enroute to Lake Como where we will stay at a hotel with a beautiful Lake view.
We will be getting our 1200 mile service in Nürburg and we are staying at a Hotel next to the track. We will be hitting the Nürburgring for a few laps. We are going to Bitburg, so I can show my better half where I spent two years of my life in the USAF and of course hit up the Bitburg Pils brewery. Going to spend the last two days of our two week adventure in Munich enjoying Oktoberfest. |

Hmmm ... I have yet to receive the full ED package via FedEx but the initial ED confirmation letter states: Quote "Shuttle Service from the Airport - The company, LOG IN OUT, offers a shuttle service from the Munich Airport to the BMW Welt or downtown Munich. For reservations, please contact LOG IN OUT directly with detailed arrival information a minimum of 48 business hours prior to arrival. · LOG IN OUT GmbH · Email - drop-off-munich@loginout.de · Phone from Germany - 089 41611460 · Phone from US - 011 49 89 41611460 · Cost - a single fare is 65 Euros" Nothing here about a fee limo service - again perhaps it only is referenced in the full ED package they send you? |

It's not in the package and the dealers don't know about it. Email BMW-EDPshuttle@sixt.com to set up the limo.

ED Route Sept 2014
Here is our planned route over 8 days.
We're planning on doing some hiking/outdoor activities and so nowhere near the miles other folk are planning but some very cool places nonetheless and some amazingly scenic roads. Also attached a pic of the road out of Andermatt - an alternate version of the Splugen Pass! |

Confirmed that you get one free shuttle ride with Sixt as part of the ED service. Can't comment re Rolf as never met the individual, nor used his service, but do respect any decision to use a service with which you are satisfied. Know enough about the area so that aspect mentioned of Rolf's service not particularly useful to me and kinda hard to beat free!

I can confirm that BMW European delivery does offer free shuttle service to BMW Welt or your hotel in the city center. I just used their service earlier today. Wonderful experience with vehicle delivery.

The S-bahn has always been my choice, but wow, free shuttle, definitely will use that!
Ciaranob I like your route and emphasis on getting out and hiking -- my preference is to be on the Italian side rather than Switzerland, but it's all good. GBPfan you will have some awesome autobahn stretches! But I'll bet the narrow two-laner up the Alps and down into Lago Como will be the most memorable drive -- plus the 'ring of course! I am planning to spend a little time at Bellagio on Como, and then down to the Portofino area on the Italian Riviera. Be careful with photocams. Does anyone know if you can get current locations that work with an Escort or other detector or GPS that warns a kilometre or so ahead?
